About the job: The Veterinary Assistant position will assist the hospital in delivering excellent care to all of our patients within the hospital. Perform Veterinary Assistant duties pursuant to Veterinary Emergency Care @Wash Park Protocols. Embodies the culture in treating every client with the utmost courteous and attentive treatment possible, with a keen sensitivity to the emotional bond between owners and their pets.

How you'll make a difference:
  • Monitor and appropriately document patient vital signs and activity
  • Provide support to all veterinarians and veterinary technicians
  • Provide comfort, diagnostic, surgical and nursing care to all patients including critical care patients
  • Obtain and prepare samples for diagnostic testing including but not limited to blood draws, arterial blood gas sampling, urinary catheter sampling and free catch urine
  • Perform various laboratory procedures including but not limited to blood typing, cross matching, and slide agglutination testing
  • Accurately take and process abdominal, thoracic, appendicular, spinal, and skull radiograph while following appropriate radiation safety protocols
  • Properly use and maintain medical equipment
  • Provide professional client communication

What you will bring:
  • Experience working as a Veterinary Assistant for 1+ years in ICU/ER setting
  • A strong desire to learn and apply knowledge/skills learned to daily work life
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and oral
  • Ability to demonstrate technical procedures as outlined in the technician protocols
  • Demonstrate reliability and follow-through with all work-related tasks / projects

Schedule: Full-Time position, 3pm - 1am

Salary: $22 - $28 / hour based on experience
