Position Overview

Responsible for recording daily financial transactions, updating general ledger, and prepare trial balances.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain financial transaction records by establishing accounts, posting transactions, and ensuring legal compliance.
  • Review and maintain a balanced general ledger.
  • Reconcile and balance accounts.
  • Utilize YARDI to manage financial tasks.
  • Assess transactions to spot and resolve discrepancies while monitoring for variances.
  • Assist with other financial activities as assigned.
  • Maintain confidentiality of verbal and written information pertaining to resident, community operations and personnel.

Education, Experience and Other Required

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • Understanding of main accounting principles
  • Proficiency in keyboard and data entry skills and ability to use ten-key calculator (preferably by touch)
  • Reading, comprehension and writing ability at 12th grade level or higher

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • Knowledge and ability to learn essential accounting software.
  • Familiarity with spreadsheets, formulas, and data analysis tools.
  • Repetitive motion with use of computer and typing
  • Extended sitting for up to 2-3 hours
  • Knowledge of relevant tax requirements and how to prepare basic tax documentation.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous bookkeeping experience
  • Working with multiple locations
