Summary

Seeking a fulltime motivated and caring paraprofessional to work in a preschool classroom to support one to two identified children between the hours of 7:30am and 4pm. S/he must have a love for working with young children, good communication skills, and the ability to work well with others in a team environment. This candidate will work closely with the teacher, special education teacher, occupational therapist and speech pathologist to create a safe and inviting environment that meets the needs of student and supports their continued development.

Duties

  • Provide support during or after a teacher’s lesson, project, circle time activity or free play to the identified preschooler.
  • Provide language support through the use of visuals and or AAC devices for the identified preschooler to support their communication development with their peers and teachers.
  • Provide behavioral support to the identified preschooler through specific praise for appropriate behaviors and respond to challenging behaviors appropriately.
  • Provide physical and medical support as needed to the identified preschooler during transitions which may include getting ready to go outside, bathroom support, and mealtime support.
  • Maintain a cooperative and respectful working relationship with the special education team, teachers, and families.
  • Follow all center policies and NH Childcare Licensing regulations.


Requirements

  • Experience and passion working with young children with behavior challenges.
  • Experience with data collection, implementing IEP's and behavior plans.
  • Ability to work positively in a team environment.
  • Candidate should have an understanding of child development.
  • Must clear full background check and health screening.
  • Strong commitment to maintain confidentiality.


Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with a child on the Autism Spectrum.
  • NH Paraeducator I or II license.
  • Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Courses in Early Childhood Education specifically focusing on child growth and development.
