Position Overview

Summary

We are seeking a full-time, compassionate paraprofessional to provide dedicated support in a preschool setting for one to two designated children. The ideal candidate will possess a genuine passion for nurturing young learners, exhibit strong communication abilities, and thrive in a collaborative team atmosphere. This role involves close cooperation with the classroom teacher, special education staff, occupational therapists, and speech pathologists to foster a secure and welcoming environment tailored to the needs of each student, promoting their ongoing growth and development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist during or after instructional activities, projects, circle time, or free play for the designated preschooler.
  • Facilitate communication development by utilizing visual aids and/or AAC devices for the identified preschooler.
  • Provide behavioral guidance through positive reinforcement for appropriate actions and effectively address challenging behaviors.
  • Offer physical and medical assistance as necessary during transitions, including outdoor preparations, bathroom support, and mealtime assistance.
  • Maintain a respectful and collaborative relationship with the special education team, educators, and families.
  • Adhere to all organizational policies and relevant childcare regulations.

Qualifications

  • Experience and enthusiasm for working with young children facing behavioral challenges.
  • Familiarity with data collection, implementation of IEPs, and behavior management plans.
  • Ability to positively contribute to a team-oriented environment.
  • Understanding of child development principles.
  • Must successfully complete a comprehensive background check and health assessment.
  • Strong commitment to confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children on the Autism Spectrum.
  • Possession of NH Paraeducator I or II license.
  • Certification in Infant/Child CPR and First Aid.
  • Completion of courses in Early Childhood Education with a focus on child growth and development.
