POSITION REPORTS TO: Chief Financial Officer 

POSITION SUPERVISES: None

CLASSIFICATION: Regular, Full-time, Non-Exempt


POSITION PURPOSE:

The Grant Accountant will assist with grant and contract billings, accounts receivable/revenue recognition, financial reporting, general ledger maintenance, and security, journal entries to the general ledger, and creation of monthly and annual reports, contract and grant reports.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions and basic tasks. Under limited to no supervision from the Chief Financial Officer, the Grant Accountant II will perform the following functions:

  1. Prepares monthly grant invoices to include the backup the funders require.
  2. Monitor grant budget and actual expenses during billing to ensure expenses align with the budgeted items.
  3. Reconcile and report grant income and expenses quarterly to YouthBuild Program Director.
  4. Prepare Conservation Corps partner invoices monthly.
  5. Collections on outstanding invoices.
  6. Reconcile and resolve accounting problems and discrepancies;
  7. Handle participant payroll
  8. Payroll tax deposits and account reconciliation when needed.
  9. Process 403B retirement plan payments and reconciliation when needed.
  10. Ensure accounting documents, records, invoices, and reports are prepared, maintained, and presented in an accurate and timely manner;
  11.  Ensure AYW policies, procedures, and accounting functions are followed and completed per internal policies and grant requirements;
  12. On an as-needed basis:
    1.  Attend and participate in meetings;
    2.  Complete special projects and miscellaneous assignments.
  13. Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information;
  14. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Required

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field

EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years of Non-Profit experience, SAGE MIP accounting software;

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in the specified or related field and years of work experience such as described in the essential work tasks; High School diploma or GED and 6 years of work experience such as described in the essential functions and duties.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Previous related experience and accounting knowledge working with a YouthBuild or AmeriCorps program model


KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

KNOWLEDGE: Non-profit grant billing and expense allocation, SAGE MIP software, Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications, computers and general office equipment; Donor contact management software;

SKILLS: Strong analytical, organization and time-management; Negotiation, Quality control analysis, File management; Non-profit fund accounting Identify problems and negotiate resolutions; excellent problem-solving skills and ability to develop win/win solutions; hardworking, focused on success and continuous process improvement;

WORKING MODEL AND CONDITIONS:

ATTENDANCE: Monday – Friday, flexible 40-hour workweek with one hour unpaid lunch break; occasionally weekends or after hours to meet deadlines or special projects and other events as needed;

TRAVEL: Occasionally attend professional conferences, workshops, training, and annual program retreats.
