The Raritan Bay Area YMCA is currently accepting applications/resumes for a Communications & Marketing Coordinator - PT.


Reporting directly to the Director of Communications & Development, the Communications & Marketing Coordinator plays a vital role in leveraging social media, electronic communications, events, and other initiatives to foster understanding and engagement among Y members, staff, board members, the community, and all stakeholders. The Communications & Marketing Coordinator is pivotal in driving the Y's mission by enhancing brand awareness, creating value, and generating revenue. The Communications & Marketing Coordinator will assist in the formulation and execution of a cohesive communications strategy that integrates organizational activities to promote the Y’s mission, cause, and brand. Additionally, the Communications & Marketing Coordinator supports fundraising efforts by providing essential communication support in financial development, contributing directly to advancing the Y’s mission through effective donor engagement.

SOME ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

  • Produces and reproduces marketing and promotional materials across various platforms (including written formats and digital signage within the building, banners, front-facing signage, social media, and the website) to effectively communicate the Y’s message to both internal and external audiences. This includes creating materials such as the Y Program Guide (issued quarterly), calendars for Y events and activities, communications and surveys aimed at engaging members, marketing materials for programs, informational signage, brochures for annual campaigns and related events, sponsorship booklets, postcards, and other informative, promotional, and marketing collateral as needed.
  • Manage all social media platforms including the Facebook page, Twitter, Constant Contact accounts, Daxko E-Gym mobile App, and Daxko Engage. Responsibilities include creating social media content, email blasts, and managing database administration and maintenance. Manage customer interactions by promptly responding to posts and messages, and escalate any issues to the relevant Director as necessary.
  • Ensure the accuracy and regular updating of website content on a monthly basis. Collaborate with Directors to maintain current information on local web pages, ensuring uniformity and coherence across the site to effectively communicate with diverse audiences.
  • Assist in producing and duplicating marketing and promotional materials across various mediums (including written and digital signage within the building, banners, front-facing signage, social media, and the website) essential for effectively communicating the Y’s message to both internal and external audiences. This includes creating materials such as the Y Program Guide (published six times annually), calendars for Y events and activities, communications and surveys aimed at engaging members, marketing materials for programs, informational signage, brochures for annual campaigns and related events, sponsorship booklets, postcards, and other informative, promotional, and marketing pieces as needed.
  • Ensures all building signage, both digital and non-digital, remains current, clear, and sharp at all times. Responsibilities include conducting a monthly review of all signage and potentially creating and posting updated signage as needed.
  • Initiates connections with media contacts and drafts and submits press releases as deemed suitable. Maintains updated records of the YMCA's media relations, encompassing both press and electronic media outlets.
  • Attends events as required and proficiently captures photographs, strategically posting them in a timely manner to relevant platforms. Events may occur during evenings and/or weekends.
  • Translates documents from English to Spanish.
  • Assists the Director of Communications and Development in developing the designated annual budget and ensures that expenditures remain within the allocated guidelines.

BASE HOURS:

20-hours/week: must be flexible for evening, early morning and/or weekend events and/or issues.


PAY RANGE: $20-$22/hour

Requirements:
  • Associate’s degree from a college or university in public relations, communications, marketing, development or related field and/or 2-3 years of related experience.
  • Language Skills - Spanish and English bilingual preferred. Excellent written and verbal abilities in both languages. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Building skills with technical knowledge to assist in the development of marketing and promotional resources for the organization. Self-directed, innovative and creative person with strong writing and verbal communication skills along with conceptual planning are required.
  • Experience in management and development of volunteer involvement; ability to recruit community leaders.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of
    the community.
  • Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
