Media Planner

Austin, United States Hiebing Full time
Job DescriptionJob Description

Hiebing is a full-service marketing agency focused on driving momentum for the brands and clients we serve. We are a curious crew who live by a We Before Me credo, knowing that teams outperform individuals and that we always have each other’s backs. We have the privilege to serve within our communities, donating thousands of hours of our time in pro-bono work for organizations making meaningful change. Camaraderie is real (as is the Beer Fairy). And together we generate great work, good karma and a pretty nice chunk of bonus money for everyone at the end of a good year. Come learn and grow with us.

We are seeking a media planner who will be responsible for developing campaign strategy across traditional and digital tactics. This role will both assist in building new plans for their client set and work closely with the buying team to execute approved plans. They will have an active role in the upfront research and ideation of each plan, building rationale for big ideas, smart foundational efforts, media mix and budget allocation. This person is also instrumental in creating client presentations, recommendation proposals and provoking industry POVs and will impact client relationships. Reporting into a director on the team, the senior media planner will also work closely with the buying SMEs on reporting, project timelines and billing. A bias for transparent and open dialogue and an always-learning lens is a requirement.

Responsibilities:

  • Obtain and interpret data from media research tools to inform strategic direction of plans and build supporting evidence for recommendations
  • Work with media buyers (SMEs) to collaboratively develop strategic recommendations based on client background, KPIs and goals.
  • Participate in client presentations and lead day-to-day client communication
  • Develop and maintain media investment-related documentation, including approvals and budgets across all traditional and digital media channels
  • Work hand in hand with media buyers on projects, providing plan parameters, giving feedback based on client strategy and being the brand voice throughout process.
  • Develop narratives across tactics within measurement and performance documents, leaning into each buyer’s analysis to find larger learnings. Identify trends across tactics and within client categories.
  • Participate in team activities, including birthday celebrations, volunteer activities and professional development opportunities

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3+ years of media planning experience, with preference given to agency background.
  • Clear understanding of the media planning and buying process, with curiosity to explore new tactics as well as passion to grow our client business
  • Demonstrated experience in pulling research, ratings and competitive information – including Kantar, Comscore, MRI-Simmons, SRDS, etc. Additional experience with pulling estimated reach/impression and cost estimates from self-serve social and paid search platforms a plus.
  • Experience in managing projects, owning details, actualizing budgets and owning flowcharts – being a ‘go-to’ on flight and budget questions
  • Background with the digital media marketplace (display, native, SEM, social, video). Traditional media (Linear TV, radio, outdoor, print, OTT, etc.) a plus, or minimally a desire to learn.
  • To say again, we’re looking for someone with a bias for transparent and open dialogue and an always-learning lens.
  • Strong mathematic and analytical skills, as well as Excel expertise. Ability to analyze data and market research in order to formulate actionable plans.
  • This position is a hybrid position. You must be able to be on-site Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday weekly.
  • Ability to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.
