Mobis North America is looking for a Optical Engineer with Wave Guide Optics experience to join our In Vehicle Infotainment Electronics team in a full time, permanent role in Plymouth, MI.

Qualified Candidates MUST have Automotive/Commercial experience.

Requirements:

Job Description

  • Analyze customer and internal requirements & specifications and translates these into optical designs
  • Experience with HUD optical system design and analysis using design tools (CodeV, LightTools, SPEOS, or Zemax)
  • Experience with evaluation and measurement of HUD optical performance (distortion, disparity, brightness, uniformity, projection distance etc.)
  • Evaluation and measurement system setup
  • Experience with spectrometer and luminance meter
  • Experience with optical layout design based on Car 3D data
  • Experience with windshield curvature analysis
  • Experience with straylight analysis from external & internal lights (glare mitigation)
  • Tolerance analysis for HUD components and windshield
  • Understand design and manufacturing of HUD modules and components
  • Field failure analysis and solution evaluation for production/product issues
  • Comfortable working with various CAD interfaces (NX, CATIA)
  • EOL(End of Line) setup for HUD manufacturing
  • New technology development with Tier2 supplier for AR-HUD (CGH-based holographic technology, waveguide-based optical system, etc.)
  • Work on site at Mobis North America and also frequently offsite at OEM facilities

Requirements

  • B.S., M.S, PhD. related to Optics Engineering or equivalent preferred.
  • About 5+ years of experience in Optical design or working in the automotive industry with a focus on HUD optical design

Preferred

  • Previous automotive engineering experience at Tier 1 Supplier
  • Design level optical engineering experience with Major OEMs
  • International joint work experience
