Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Electrical Fitter to join our team at Devonport dockyard in Plymouth. As an Electrical Fitter, you will play a critical role in ensuring the serviceability of warships and submarines through detailed maintenance and refit periods.
Key Responsibilities
- Overhaul and install a variety of electrical equipment, including distribution, command and control systems, such as weapons, navigation and communications.
- Work to electrical/engineering drawings and technical specifications to install and connect cabling, and carry out system and equipment functional tests.
- Collaborate with multi-trade teams to achieve project goals and objectives.
Requirements
- Ability to read electrical and engineering drawings to interpret work instructions.
- Competence in the use of general workshop machinery specific to electrical fitting.
- Experience working with Fibre Optics, Data Cables, RF Cables, Plugs and Connectors.
- Desirable: experience in the marine industry, particularly with Royal Navy ships and submarines, Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessels or large commercial ships.
- Qualifications: Indentured Apprenticeship, Level 3 Modern Apprenticeship in an electrical discipline, Armed Forces PO/CPO/NCO with electrical specialisation, or Level 3 Electrical Engineering qualification.
