Job Summary: The OSP Wireless/Fiber Field Technician supports all aspects of telecommunication installations and inspections of telecommunication structures, utility poles, cables, and data centers to ensure that work has been performed in the safest manner possible while delivering a high-quality product to our customers.

Responsibilities: Perform inspections of Utility Poles to ensure CPUC G.O. 95 compliance.

  • Perform engineering and design for fiber-to-cell site projects for multiple carriers while adhering to General Orders 95 and 128 per the California Public Utilities Commission.
  • Perform engineering and design for new cell sites for multiple carriers while adhering to General Order 95 per the California Public Utilities Commission.
  • Design layouts for power and backhaul transport installation.
  • Perform equipment layout for vault and pole design and outdoor compound.
  • Perform ISP designs for pathway construction.
  • Make recommendations that meet both the customer's and the company’s business needs.
  • Work with various utilities to coordinate service to cell sites.
  • Interface and collaborate daily with a broad range of customers, including construction managers, project managers, and utility companies.

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Previous experience utilizing Osmose, O-Calc/O-Calc Pro, and Southern California Edison Load Estimator programs.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Utility Pole structures and Wind-load structural calculations.
  • Experience working with AutoCAD or similar program.
  • Valid driver’s license preferred with a driving record that meets Company requirements.
  • Ability to use hand tools.
  • Ability to grip tightly, bend, stoop, scoop, and pull.
  • Willingness to take direction from Field Supervisor & support crew on job sites.
  • Ability to read and write in English.

Qualifications & Skills:

High school diploma, general education degree (G.E.D.), or related trade school education.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
  • Able to lift up to 100 pounds.
  • Wear provided PPE at all times on job sites.
