Civil Operator

The Equipment Operator operates construction, excavation, hauling, and maintenance equipment including backhoes, front-end loaders, bulldozers, excavators, or grade tractors.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Prepares construction sites for building, demolition, or excavation.
- Uses excavating machinery to dig holes and trenches
- Receive construction materials unload or deliver them to work site.
- Identify faults in equipment and take measures to fix them.
- Carryout minimal repairs on machinery when necessary.
- Adhere to safety regulations and report hazards to supervisor.
- Perform maintenance routine on equipment.
- Perform physical activities like kneeling, crawling, jumping and lifting excess of 50 pounds.
- Inspect working environment even before work begins to ensure that it is safe.
- Establish a good working relationship on site.
- Performs Laborer duties when operation of equipment is not needed.
- Performs related duties as assigned
- Maintains compliance with all company policies and procedures
Education, Skills and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- Extensive knowledge of heavy machinery operation and capabilities
- Excellent mechanical skills are necessary
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to read gauges, dials and other indicator, and adjust them as necessary.
- You must be able to coordinate your actions with those of other workers on a busy construction site.
Physical Requirements:
- You must coordinate movements of your hands and feet in order to guide equipment in tight places.
- Must have the ability and be willing to work in adverse conditions, not just including extreme weather but enclosed space and heights up to 80 feet as well.
- Construction projects take place at all hours of the day or night, so schedules might include late nights and overtime hours. You should be willing to accommodate a schedule that can require weekend work as well
