Civil Water Resources Engineer

Weston & Sampson is seeking a talented Civil Water Resources Engineer to expand our Water Resources and Resiliency practice throughout the Southeast. As a key member of our team, you will engage with like-minded professionals to support complex projects including dam and levee safety, innovative nature-based solutions, stormwater infrastructure design, flood mitigation practices, and coastal resiliency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop construction documents, including drawings and specifications, for dam rehabilitations/removals, stream crossings, waterfront projects, and stormwater systems.
  • Apply hydrologic, hydraulic, and water quality modeling software, including HEC-RAS 1D/2D, Infoworks ICM, and PCSWMM, to support projects including dam rehabilitations/removals, resiliency plans, and municipal watershed plans.
  • Support watershed planning, MS4 program compliance, and water quality investigations.
  • Assist with RFQ/RFP responses and interviews to help secure new work.
  • Collaborate internally with resilience planners, environmental engineers, engagement specialists, and other disciplines to deliver transformative projects that promote equity, health, and wellness, and sustainability.
  • Attend and present at conferences and represent the company publicly.
  • Think like an owner: as an ESOP and company owner yourself, make informed decisions in the best interest of all WSE's employee owners.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's in Agricultural/Biosystems, Civil, or Environmental Engineering (Required).
  • Master's in Agricultural/Biosystems, Civil, or Environmental Engineering (Preferred).
  • 2-3 years' experience in a related position (Preferred).
  • Operating knowledge and proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and ESRI GIS (Required).
  • Experience in MicroStation V8i or Open Roads a plus (Preferred).
  • Strong writing skills related to scope development, technical approaches, emails, and reports.
  • Ability to effectively and simultaneously manage multiple projects, on-time and on budget.
  • Must be able to travel regionally as necessary for project meetings and site visits.
