Summary:

The Work Preparation position is responsible for coordinating the production process in the SCHUNK manufacturing environment. The primary duties include creating production orders, creating/updating routing instructions, scheduling/planning orders, evaluating capacity, and working with purchasing to procure components. Additional responsibilities include supporting the manufacturing team with necessary equipment for special projects and organization of inspection gauges. The successful candidate will work closely with the production team to ensure that all orders are completed on time and within budget. This position requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work well in a fast paced environment.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. (Other duties may be assigned)
Create production orders for the manufacturing team, including but not limited to:

  • Review stock and order demand to schedule orders to meet demand based on capacity.
  • Review parts and requirements to determine manufacturing process for smooth production flow.
  • Create inspection forms based on engineering drawing and manufacturing process requirements.
  • Monitor manufacturing production orders in the ERP System throughout the order lifecycle.
  • Review, close out, and ensure accurate production records for completed orders.
  • Work with purchasing team and outside vendors to subcontract specific work operations as needed.
  • Review the production schedule and communicate changes with other departments.
  • Analyzing production data to identify areas for improvement and assisting with continuous improvement projects.
  • Work with quality team to verify proper gauging is available and assist in calibration, repairs, or replacements.
  • Checking and maintaining stock levels in the manufacturing inventory and tool crib locations.
  • Contribute to the SCHUNK quality program by following quality and standard operating procedures.
  • Provide regular reports to management on production key metrics.
Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Must have general understanding of the Metric & English measurement systems.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings, part drawings and assembly drawings.
  • Strong technical understanding of manufacturing production processes.
  • Must work with minimum supervision with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Ability to recognize areas that need support and have the initiative to step in and provide assistance.
  • Ability to develop an understanding of the component manufacturing and sales industry for SCHUNK product lines.

Education and/or Experience:

  • 2-year technical degree; or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience.
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft office and Sharepoint based systems preferred. Specifically Excel to gather, analyze, visualize, and share data.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read analyze and interpret documents such as catalogs, technical drawings, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in oral, written or diagram form.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, customers, and other interested parties.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedures.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to read analyze and interpret documents such as catalogs, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Computer Skills:
  • Ability to use PC applications including advanced skills with Microsoft Excel, Work, Outlook, and Internet based systems.
