Job DescriptionJob DescriptionAA Urology is seeking a Lab Technician with prior experience in a High Complexity Laboratory. The ideal candidate should be able to work independently, organize work to meet deadlines and validate all data obtained. You will be responsible for:
 
  • Receiving, distributing, and logging specimen into the PCR spreadsheet.
  • Assigning accession numbers and preparing specimens for DNA extraction.
  • Plating specimens in microtiter plates and running on Quant Studio 5.
  • Interpreting curves captured on Quant Studio 5.
  •  Populate the spreadsheet with findings and sending out reports.

Position Requirements:
  • Prior work experience in a high complexity Clinical Laboratory, 6 months minimum
  • PCR experience required; 6 months minimum.
  • Clinical Chemistry experience required; 6 months minimum.
  • Experience with cytology, IHC and FISH a plus
  • Excellent work ethic
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Able to multitask effectively.
  • Works well in a team environment
  • Excellent computer skills, Microsoft Office applications
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Responsibilities:
  • Versed with all current high complexity laboratory SOPs.
  • Follow the laboratory’s procedures for specimen handling and test analyses and reporting.
  • Maintain all necessary logs and QC documentation; instrument maintenance logs, daily QC run log and sample error log.
  • Maintain records which demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are processed in the same manner as patient specimens.
  • Adhere to the laboratory’s quality control policies and documenting all QC activities, instrument and procedural calibrations.
  • Follow the laboratory’s policies whenever test systems are not within the laboratory’s established acceptable levels of performance.
  • Be able to identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either correct the problem or notify the General Supervisor.
  • Maintains open communication with co-workers and management in all aspects of work-related tasks, when applicable.
  • Other duties as assigned


Education:
  • Qualifying Bachelor of Science

Experience:
  • Lab Technician: 2 years (Required)
  • Experience with Quantstudio5, King Fisher, preferred

License/Certification:
  • PCR & Molecular (Required)
  • Clinical Chemistry Experience (Required)
  • MLT Certification (Required)
