Light of Life Rescue Mission has been a safe refuge for homeless and hurting people in the Pittsburgh area for 70 years. Our scope of services to serve the community continues to grow and we've recently moved into two new facilities.

Are you an outgoing, influential person who likes to multi-task? We seek a full-time Outreach Manager to lead a team that engages and builds relationships with street homeless individuals. This individual plays a vital role in collaborating to combat homelessness and poverty.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  1. Oversees the Outreach Team
  2. Creates and implements strategy for engaging and building relationships with street homeless individuals
  3. Leads and educates staff and volunteers
  4. Engages with partner organizations such as mental health facilities, hospitals, EMS service providers, police, rehabs and jails
  5. Provides on-site Crisis Management training for all Programs personnel

Due to the interaction with clients and co-workers in our faith-based community, all jobs at Light of Life require employees to:

  • Walk alongside clients as a disciple of Jesus Christ and share the Gospel through actions and words.
  • Establish mutual trust and create a safe, authentic environment for people of all backgrounds.
  • Resolve all issues in ways that promote the principles of Light of Life while following the processes described in the staff manual.
  • Help the clients make choices that are justifiably in their eternal best interest.
  • Model personal responsibility, accountability, timely reporting and a self-evaluative lifestyle.

Requirements/Certifications

  • Valid PA Driver's License with clean driving record
  • Organization and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills; compassionate and patient; able to create a safe and comfortable environment.
  • CPR Certification, Mental Health First Aid Certification required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software tools and able to learn new, proprietary, software applications as needed.

Education/Experience:

  • MS in Social Work or related field preferred
  • Deep knowledge of issues pertaining to addiction, homelessness, and/or mental illness required.
  • Leadership experience working in nonprofit, human services, EMS or ministry.
  • Experience with safety and security measures for human services agencies is desired.
