Artists ReEnvisioning Tomorrow Inc “ART Inc”, founded in 2018 by Jonathon and Nikki Romain, is Peoria’s foremost arts education non-profit organization. ART Inc provides arts education opportunities to nearly 500 students and teaching artists each year. The staff, board, volunteers, and teaching artists of ART Inc work tirelessly to nurture a vibrant community through arts and education, foster artistic excellence, entrepreneurship, and bring all people together for a powerful, shared experience regardless of their ability to pay.


Position Objective:

ART Inc is seeking a talented HR Generalist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a proven history of effectively managing human resources functions, including recruitment, employee relations, and performance management. This individual will be a proactive leader who excels at fostering an inclusive, trusting, and productive work environment. Ultimately, the HR Generalist will be responsible for enhancing our workforce practices and supporting our growth initiatives.


Responsibilities:


  • Onboarding: Manage and enhance the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring a smooth transition into the ART Inc. community. This includes preparing orientation materials, conducting training sessions, and fostering a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Recruitment of Part-Time Staff: Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract part-time staff aligned with our organizational values. This includes writing job postings, screening candidates, conducting interviews, and facilitating the hiring process.
  • Compliance: Ensure that ART Inc. adheres to all relevant employment laws and regulations, maintaining policies and documentation that support compliance efforts. Regularly review and update HR policies as needed.
  • Employee Lifecycle Management: Oversee all aspects of the employee lifecycle, from initial recruitment to exit interviews, ensuring a positive experience throughout each stage of employment.
  • People Development: Work collaboratively with leadership to identify staffing needs and develop strategies for team-building, skill development, and staff retention.

Marginal Responsibilities:

  • Support the executive team with various administrative and supportive tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Education/Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree/three or more years of experience in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in human resources or management, preferably within the nonprofit sector.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.
  • Proficiency in HR management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Previous Human Resources Information System (HRIS) knowledge.
  • Basic computer and office program knowledge and application.
