DSG is seeking a Credit and Collections Associate to join our Accounts Receivable Team. Preferred work location is in our Plymouth, MN location, but other DSG branch locations will be considered for the right candidate. As a Credit and Collections Associate, you will be responsible for accounts receivable collections across the organization, supporting the Regional Credit Managers and Director of Credit to ensure timely collections and satisfied customers, processing credit applications and new customer set up.

A Typical Day in the Life of a Credit & Collections Associate at DSG:

  • Process credit applications from customers
  • Set up new customer accounts
  • Collect customer receivables across the organization
  • Assist customers with account inquiries and troubleshoot account balance issues
  • As a part of the credit management team, ensure coverage for credit matters during company business hours
  • Assist in the release of credit holds
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, providing excellent customer service while collecting balances due
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships across the organization, communicating proactively, and partnering with sales associates on collection efforts
  • Provide documentation and support for state and local sales tax audits
  • Perform other duties as necessary or assigned

A Successful Credit & Collections Associate Typically Has:

  • 3+ years of experience managing credit for small to large customers, preferably in a distribution environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of credit laws and regulations (i.e. Truth in Lending, Fair Credit Reporting, Fair Debt Collection Practices, etc.).
  • Familiarity with credit risk management methods including liens, payment bonds, joint checks, personal guarantees, etc.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong system aptitude and the ability to navigate systems in order to combine formal training with exploration and self-learning.
  • Basic Microsoft Excel proficiency.
  • The ability to effectively multi-task, work independently, and manage competing priorities.
  • Sound judgement and critical thinking skills; can see the “big picture” when making decisions.
  • A team-player mindset; works for the good of the whole organization with a service attitude.
  • Professional credentials a plus
