Accounting Tech I (TEMP)

Bradenton, FL

$19/hr.

Temporary

Job Duties:

  • Proficient in Word and Excel
  • Creates, monitors, records and provides detailed data entry for various accounting functions by performing the following duties.
  • Compiles and sorts documents, such as invoices, payments, etc., substantiating business transactions.
  • Verifies and posts details of business transactions, such as funds received and disbursed, and totals accounts to ledgers or computer spreadsheets and databases.
  • Reconciles and reports discrepancies.
  • Provides reports per College policies.
  • Investigates problems with payments from students, third party payers, and other accounts.
  • Collects fees and payments; computes and records charges and refunds.
  • Coordinates third party billing, financial aid, or student collections and/or monitors agencies as required.
  • Prepares vouchers, invoices, checks, account statements, reports, financial statements and other records, and reviews for accuracy.
  • Reconciles general ledger accounts with various registers.
  • Codes data for input to financial data processing system according to College procedures.
  • Assists staff, vendors, and students by answering questions related to accounts, procedures and services.
  • Provides support to Director of Finance/Controller, Bursar or other finance supervisors as required.
  • Provides training/coaching for various College staff regarding Accounting processes and procedures.
  • Acts as lead employee to other Finance staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

• Education/Experience:

Associate’s degree from two-year college or university and two or more years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Supervisory Experience:

One or more years of experience as a “lead” employee, with responsibility for scheduling and assigning work, training new employees, and assisting others with problems, is required.

• Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.

Ability to respond to technical questions and/or complaints from College leadership, customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the community.

• Math Ability:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Work Schedule:

Mondays through Fridays - 8am - 4:30pm
