What is my role?

The Supervisor, Operations positions provide direction across each functional department, leading team members to ensure customer requirements are achieved while meeting our internal and external goals and objectives. Supervisors must have strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills in order to assist with overseeing multi-level associates within the warehouse. Proven warehouse experience required, as this is also a working supervisor. Solid understanding of taking a proactive approach to fostering conflict resolutions, leading to a safe and healthy work environment is necessary. Must be able to adapt and thrive within all work schedules/hours, based on the business needs.

What You'll Do

People

  • Establish and sustain that all associates are trained, competent, and understand how their work relates to the customers' business objectives
  • Establish and sustain performance standards; communicate specific and measurable daily, weekly and monthly goals.
  • Interview hourly Associates and provide recommendations for hire or promotion as positions become available.
  • Monitor attendance, productivity, and other performance standards and provide coaching and counseling to Associates with Management and Human Resources
  • Motivate and engage Associates by focusing on team accomplishments and recognition
  • Build effective relationships with all associates, customers, and supporting functional areas across the company

Operations

  • Supervise logistics operations including customer service, freight loading and unloading, inbound, and outbound functions with all proper documentation and procedure control
  • Conduct team meetings daily.
  • Evaluate and recommend changes in preferred work methods to increase productivity of warehouse operations.
  • Assist in new associate training and temp training/cross-training.
  • Provide relief coverage for operational duties when associates utilize time-off or are absent from the shift or other supervisors.
  • Have a thorough working knowledge of the site's operating systems in order to ensure operational compliance and correct exception resolution
  • Complete all necessary records and reports in a timely and accurate fashion
  • Establish metrics and training templates for functional areas and update as required
  • Weekend work or late hours in a day as required, depending on business needs.
  • Other responsibilities and tasks as assigned by your manager or supervisor.

Finance

  • Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures such as, inventory accuracy and control, returns, damages, etc.
  • Understand the relationship between decisions and profitability
  • Closely manage Associates’ working hours and activities to minimize overtime and to meet or exceed productivity targets

Safety

  • Ensure day-to-day supervision and associate activities are in alignment with the location safety strategy
  • Provide associates with communication, training, feedback, and direction to ensure safe performance
  • Conduct safety inspections and report on observations.

Growth/Customer Experience

  • Understand specific customer goals & objectives and work to meet and exceed these expectations daily
  • Ensure each customer knows that we are committed to helping them meet their objectives
  • Determine areas that could benefit from Continuous Improvement efforts
  • Support all chargeback resolution activities and efforts

Assets/Fleet/Equipment

  • Properly plan work assignments to ensure effective use of warehouse equipment
  • Work with hourly associates to ensure they understand safe and efficient operation of equipment
  • Identify need for equipment inspection or repairs and notify management

What You'll Need

  • 2 - 4 years related functional experience, in a Warehouse environment.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent work experience, required
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferred
  • Strong written/oral communication skills and the ability to actively listen, required in English.
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint required
  • Must demonstrate ownership & responsibility to help run the operation with a sense of urgency
  • Must have ability to connect and build rapport/relationships with associates and external customers at all levels
  • Must have ability to work efficiently with time management and organizational skills, focusing on priorities
  • Ability to manage through a problem and think and make decisions independently up to an approved level.
  • Ability to drive process improvement and lead change
  • Experience with inventory management and WMS system, preferred
  • Regular, predictable, consistent attendance record is an essential function of the job
  • Read, communicate verbally and/or in written form, remember and analyze/understand certain information, instructions and guidelines
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English), preferred
  • Ability to write legibly
  • Must have basic math, computer, and data entry skills
  • Ability to communicate in a professional and positive manner
  • Demonstrated ability to lead others to complete work requirements
  • Must have attention to detail
  • Must be a Team Player
