Job DescriptionJob Description

Join SADA as a Senior Enterprise Cloud Architect, Software Engineering

Your Mission

As a Senior Enterprise Cloud Architect at SADA, with a specialization in Software Engineering, your main responsibility is to lead a team of architects and engineers in designing, prototyping, developing, and deploying scalable software solutions for our customers on the Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

As part of your role, you will collaborate with various teams, including customers, engineering, sales, and Googlers.

You will be responsible for architecting and developing solutions across multiple stacks, including APIs for web and mobile, edge computing applications, orchestration for deployments/pipelines, responsive web applications, and client applications supporting mobile and edge computing applications. SADA is a premier partner of Google Cloud Platform (GCP). As such your implementations will focus on enabling customers to utilize GCP better or to demonstrate its capabilities.

You will also be responsible for leading software engineering projects for large and intricate client engagements, often acting as the account CTO. You will have a hands-on approach, researching and presenting solutions, conducting experiments, and building prototypes to validate ideas and demonstrate the effectiveness of the solutions you recommend. You will sometimes spearhead the development of projects and lead other engineers to deliver on your vision.

Because SADA is a services-focused company, you will have the opportunity to support customers spanning every industry--including gaming, logistics, finance, healthcare, and hospitality--each with different use cases and objectives. You will obtain a breadth of skills and experience unparalleled at other companies.

What you would be doing on a daily basis:

  • Work on different types of projects with applications in various stages of development, ranging from discovery and architecture processes, soup-to-nuts development of an application, or general consulting on individual features for our internal teams.
  • Prototype Proof of Concepts for customer/team feedback
  • Quality-Review solutions delivered by other engineers on the project
  • Deliver hands-on technical mentoring and leadership to engineers on the project, especially when using niche architectural patterns. Keep the communication channels with the client transparent to update on progress, gather feedback, and evaluate opportunities.
  • Assist the Project Managers and Clients in making high-impact decisions to improve the quality/time-to-market of the delivery where relevant.
  • Shepherd high-impact PRs and changes to the required environments to extract client feedback as early as possible

Pathway to Success

Your super-power will be in helping customers understand specifically how Google Cloud technology can fundamentally solve their technical challenges and enable their future success. You will inspire cross-functional leadership from our engineering teams. You will be trusted to guide large enterprise engagements and given the freedom to build new solutions that meet customer needs.

You will establish yourself as a renowned specialist within SADA, earning a reputation with customers and with the Google Cloud sales and professional services teams for your wide-ranging domain knowledge. Other engineers and architects will routinely defer to your expertise when it comes to the delivery of project architectures. In your role, you'll manage client-oriented technical conversations. Collaborating with client architects and technology heads, you will take on the design of expansive and extended client initiatives.

Success will be measured by Client satisfaction, deals won, and your contributions to the team's goals.

Expectations

Required Travel - Up to 25% travel to customer sites, conferences, and other related events.

Customer Facing - This is a customer-facing role. You will interact with customers on a daily basis. You will participate in calls and customer meetings to qualify for consultative engagements with engineering and business teams. You will present solutions, architectures, SOWs, demos, and other technical materials to build trust and confidence in SADA's ability to take the customer through their cloud adoption.

Onboarding/Training - The first several weeks of onboarding are dedicated to learning and will encompass learning materials/assignments, compliance training, and meetings with relevant individuals. Details of the timeline are shared closer to the start date.

Job Requirements

Required Credentials:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or 10 years of relevant work experience in software development.

Google Professional Cloud Architect Certified or able to complete one of the above within the first 90 days of employment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in software development and architecture, preferably in cloud-based environments.
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing scalable and reliable enterprise software solutions and running them in production.
  • Expertise in development with one or more of the following languages: Java/Kotlin, Python, Rust, Golang, or Node.js.
  • Prior experience designing, building, and maintaining high-quality, developer-friendly REST APIs.
  • Exposure to full stack development, from setting up application and database server infrastructure to developing and implementing application code.
  • Experience guiding complex, long-term customer engagements. Common examples would be migration from one cloud to another and refactoring cloud SDKs, breaking down monolithic applications into microservices, or large-scale net-new applications on the cloud.
  • Experience providing leadership, oversight, and direction of software development projects, ideally as a VP of Engineering or CTO in a high-growth organization. Experience strategizing, designing, architecting, and directing the deployment of scalable software, with a focus on cloud-based solutions.
  • Experience guiding technical design sessions, architecting and documenting technical solutions aligned with client business goals, and identifying gaps between the client's current and desired end states.
  • Ability to evaluate and select appropriate technologies and frameworks to meet specific project requirements and assess risks and trade-offs.
  • Proficiency in designing and implementing scalable, high-performance, and secure software architectures.
  • Ability to architect, scope, and prioritize work based on feedback from the customer or internal teams.
  • Highly capable when working with customers in a consultative capacity, including convincing them to utilize more optimal technologies and processes.
  • Advanced knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience writing automated tests, including unit, integration, end-to-end, and acceptance tests.
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience tuning applications for non-functional requirements, such as: usability, maintainability, scalability, availability, security, and portability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Time management with the ability to manage multiple streams.
  • Passion for learning new technologies, industry trends, and best practices in software architecture and cloud computing.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing business requirements and technologies in a fast-paced environment.

Useful Qualifications:

  • Experience with Java/SpringBoot.
  • Experience delivering real-time applications using streaming protocols, such as WebSockets, WebRTC, and Sockets.
  • Experience using Google Cloud Platform, in particular serverless (Cloud Functions), containers (Cloud Run, Kubernetes), and platforms (App Engine).
  • Experience using cloud offerings and solutions (Microsoft Azure, or Amazon AWS).
  • Exposure to the Google Maps API, PostGIS, GDAL, or other Geospatial display and analytics APIs/frameworks.
  • Experience with API management solutions such as Apigee or Mulesoft.
  • Experience with leveraging Generative AI in applications.
  • Experience with GenAI.
