Erie, United States Child Development Centers Inc Full time
Job DescriptionJob Description

Summary:

Engage with families to build authentic relationships that will develop into partnerships that promote trust and respectful, ongoing two-way communication. These partnerships support family well-being and help families meet established goals for themselves and their children.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Develop community partnerships that provide opportunities for recruitment and completion of enrollment.

• Participate in recruitment activities/events to fill vacancies and/or maintain a waitlist in the Head Start program.

• Re-enroll eligible current families and assist in enrolling new families by deadlines determined by the supervisor, ensuring a 97% enrollment rate by completing all re-enrollment and other required paperwork accurately.

• Complete and document home visits for families each month.

• Complete a Family Partnership Agreement and establish a Goal Plan in collaboration with all Head Start families.

• Complete and document Fall, Winter and Spring Family Outcomes Assessment checkpoints with each family by established deadlines.

• Refer families to the appropriate resources, as determined by their Family Outcomes Assessment, to support their needs and the needs of their children.

• Track family goals to fulfill PIR requirements and ensure progress.

• Communicate with families regularly regarding their child’s daily attendance.

• Provide parents with information about the importance of their child’s attendance and work to ensure that families have a minimum of an 85% attendance rate. Documentation is required after two consecutive unexplained absences.

• Conduct a home visit or make other direct contact with a child’s family if a child has two or more unexplained, consecutive absences and do not respond to call and/or text.

• Facilitate a bi-monthly Parent Committee meeting offering families activities that support parent- child relationships and child development, including language, dual language, literacy, and bi- literacy, as appropriate.

• Assist families in enrolling in Ready Rosie, a research-based parenting curriculum that allows them to practice parenting skills.

• Meet with the supervisor regularly to discuss attendance concerns, enrollment issues, special family circumstances, upcoming events, or any other pertinent information.

• Participate in classroom visits, classroom activities, and interdisciplinary team meetings with teachers to build positive child relationships.

• Communicate effectively with the Center Director, teachers, and other staff in the center in which you work.

• Other duties as assigned by the Manager

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in social work (or related field) or FES Certificate.

• Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience working with children.

• May require travel to other centers within the county.

• A half hour unpaid lunch break is required daily, resulting in an 8.5-hour workday.

• Proper attendance is required. Employees are expected to arrive on time, every day, able and available to work.

• Must be able to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of families and scheduled events, recruitment activities and community events, home visits, and Parent Committee Meetings that may take place in the evening and/or on weekends. A flexible schedule allows for an 8-hour workday to be adjusted to accommodate the needs of the program. Ideally these adjustments need to be within the same workday, but if that is not possible, the FES needs to seek prior approval from their supervisor. Examples of a flexible schedule:

• FES has a 5pm appointment with a parent. They may come in later the same day and work an 8- hour workday.

• FES comes in their regular hours, works 8 hours and a parent wants to meet past their normal work hours. With prior approval from their supervisor, they can come in late the next morning or leave early.

• FES is scheduled to participate in a Saturday recruitment event. With prior approval from their supervisor, they can communicate any changes in their schedule to maintain a 40-hour workweek
