We are seeking an experienced Revenue Accounting Leader, preferably in the Dallas/Fort Worth area but the role will be hybrid and not require a daily presence in our Forth Worth office. The Revenue Accounting Leader will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the firm’s revenue recognition processes. This individual will oversee all aspects of revenue accounting, including billing, accounts receivable, and compliance with relevant accounting standards. The Revenue Accounting Leader will work closely with project teams, the finance department, and the Controller to optimize revenue operations and support the firm’s financial goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Revenue Recognition and Compliance:
    • Ensure accurate and timely revenue recognition in compliance with ASC 606 and other applicable accounting standards.
    • Develop and implement policies and procedures related to revenue accounting.
    • Maintain comprehensive documentation for revenue transactions and policies.
  2. Billing and Accounts Receivable:
    • Oversee the billing process, ensuring invoices are issued accurately and timely.
    • Manage accounts receivable, including monitoring aging, collections, and resolving discrepancies.
    • Collaborate with project managers to ensure proper billing and revenue recognition for all projects.
  3. Financial Reporting:
    • Prepare and review revenue-related journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports.
    • Provide detailed analysis and commentary on revenue trends and variances.
    • Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring revenue-related activities are completed on time.
  4. Internal Controls and Audit:
    • Establish and maintain robust internal controls over revenue processes.
    • Coordinate with external auditors to provide necessary documentation and support for revenue-related audits.
    • Conduct periodic reviews to ensure compliance with internal controls and identify areas for improvement.
  5. Collaboration and Support:
    • Work closely with the finance, project management, and operations teams to ensure alignment on revenue-related matters.
    • Support the Controller and CFO with ad hoc financial analysis and special projects.
    • Participate in system implementations and upgrades to enhance revenue accounting processes as well as migration to Deltek Vantage Point.
    • Convert future acquired companies to POC reporting

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, with a focus on revenue recognition and billing. Experience in the architecture, engineering, or construction industry is preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of GAAP, ASC 606, and revenue recognition principles. Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems with Deltek Vantage Point preferable. Advanced Excel skills.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Organizational Skills: Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
