JOB SUMMARY:


The Cost Accountant is responsible for working with multiple projects, monitoring budgets & financials, and supporting the project team. This position ensures that costs are coded properly.  They will create a forecast of the profitability of each project and will work with the Project Manager and other project leadership to identify any financial risk.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor and control project budgets and financial records
  • Review transactions for accuracy and appropriateness
  • Input data into accounting system
  • Analyze financial position of projects, including cash position
  • Prepare monthly project reports for management
  • Support project team
  • Forecast profitability of projects
  • Identify financial risks and report to project team and management
  • Design and maintain appropriate financial procedures and processes
  • Other duties as assigned by management


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or similar is required
  • Accounting experience, preferably working on commercial or residential construction projects
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Proficient in basic administrative functions
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.  Experience with Procore a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage and prioritize tasks/projects with little supervision
  • Ability to sit at a desk and work for long periods of time
  • Willing and able to visit construction job sites regularly
