DESCRIPTION:
As an Automation Field Service Technician, it is essential to have great communication skills, mechanical and electrical knowledge necessary to repair, troubleshoot, modify and test complex technical problems on Industrial automation systems for our customers. This position is 100% travel Monday through Friday. While most travel is within the US, travel can be national as well. Services are provided on-site at our customer’s facilities and via telephone if situation permits.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assemble and connect all components to create one system.
- Installation of wiring, mechanical modifications, and troubleshoot problems.
- Installing software updating and programming PC bas and PLC controls.
- Operate and adjust system before anchoring to the floor.
- Instruct customers on operations and maintenance.
- Connect and install all safety fences, chains, switches, lights, sirens and make sure the operators understands them.
- Prepare weekly expense reports and paperwork.
- Other duties may be assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Working knowledge of machining and manufacturing processes
- Ability to use basic hand-tools
- Ability to operate a computer with windows operating systems
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Able to be comfortable working with heights
- Valid Driver’s License
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Associates or technical degree preferred
- 1-2 years of electrical and mechanical experience preferred
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Job operates mainly indoors, but is exposed to changing weather conditions, such as extreme hot or cold, rain, sun, wind, etc. This job also works near moving mechanical parts and the noise level is moderate to loud. This position generally has a lot of driving and overtime work. Ability to operate a motor vehicle and possession of a valid driver’s license is required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This job requires very frequent bending at the waist, twisting of the upper body, standing, speaking and hearing and frequent kneeling. Repetitive use of the hands, squeezing, keyboarding and crouching. Requires frequent lifting and carrying of 1-10 pounds, recurrent lifting of 11-20 pounds and occasional lifting and carrying of 21-50 or more pounds. Also requires constant pushing and pulling of 1-50 pounds and infrequent pushing and pulling of over 50 pounds with the aid of handcarts or other wheeled devices. Good visual and color acuity are a must to perform this type of job.
