Senior Director of Medical Programs

Summary:
This position holds responsibility for the success and coordination of Dixie Technical College's medical programs: Practical Nursing, Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Pharmacy Technician, Biotechnology, Phlebotomy, EMT, and Advanced EMT. It requires that professional attitude, conduct, and communication be modeled at all times and that instructors are given the clear expectations and support needed to successfully instruct students and maintain COE compliance in their respective programs.Special attention should be given to program quality, student success, and continual process improvement.
Dixie Tech is a public technical college located in a new state-of-the-art campus in St. George, Utah. The College has 29 Council on Occupational Education accredited programs that offer certifications in high-demand, high-pay professions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee all operations of the medical programs and provide leadership and guidance for faculty and instructional support coordinators
- Collaborate with program instructors to address scheduling, workload, and interpersonal issues in their programs
- Work with faculty to ensure continuous improvement in processes, instruction and student outcomes
- Facilitate communication along the chain of command. Ensure that issues are communicated between executives and employees
- Ensure that students are retained and that they graduate, complete, pass any relevant licensure exams, and are placed. Meet or exceed performance metrics for the program established by the VP of Instruction
- Ensure programs and employees and students comply with Dixie Tech policies and practices, as well as USHE and COE requirements and state and federal law
- Communicate program and employee issues to VP of Instruction or Instructional Management Team (IMT) which can't be readily resolved by the manager, are campus-wide, the manager needs assistance with, or that present a danger to the College, its employees or students
- Communicate Title IX, discrimination and abuse issues to HR or Student Services as appropriate
- Manage program budgets. Ensure that purchases are made in accordance with policy
- Direct recruiting efforts for assigned programs. Coordinate with instructors, marketing,admissions and recruiters to fill cohorts with students who are capable of graduatingand finding employment in the field.
- Ensure that COE evidence is gathered, compliant and stored in accordance with College practice.
- Provide administrative support to programs to maximize instructor time available for instruction and recruiting.
- Provide clear expectations for instructors and instructional support coordinators along with the resources and support needed for them to successfully complete their assignments and duties.
- Utilize and manage instructors to develop fundraising and industry connections. Assist in developing connections between College President and industry partners.
- Ensure that Occupational Advisory Committees help fulfill their role and have members that support the program and College.
- Coordinate and implement improvement plans for programs
- Compliance with Dixie Tech Policies and Procedures
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements and Qualifications:
- 5+ years' management experience required
- Accreditation, technical or medical education, and management experience in the medical field strongly preferred
- Bachelor's degree required, master's degree in a medical discipline or management strongly preferred
- Strong communication and/or presentation skills
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office/Google suite applications
- The employee is occasionally required to sit, stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push and pull items weighing 25 pounds or less. The position requires manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
