The Organization

Operation Samahan (OpSam Health) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that serves the San Diego County community. Founded in 1973 in a barber shop in Downtown San Diego by Filipino health professionals offering services to immigrants who did not have the finances, linguistic skills, or ability to navigate the health care system. Today, Operation Samahan has evolved into a diverse community health center with services available in National City, Mira Mesa, City Heights, and Rancho Penasquitos. We provide primary care, dental, behavioral health, family planning, integrative health and wellness, healthy eating, civic engagement, and other health-related services to the uninsured, underinsured, and underserved families of all income levels, regardless of their ability to pay.

JOB PURPOSE

Opsam Health is seeking a qualified and passionate Behavioral Health Clinician to join our team. The primary responsibility of this role is to implement a school-based, prevention-focused program using the evidence-based curriculum, RAP-A (Resourceful Adolescent Program for Adolescents). This program is designed to build resilience and prevent mental health issues among adolescents.

In addition to delivering the RAP-A curriculum, the clinician will provide individual therapy to adolescents who require more intensive support beyond the preventive level. This includes developing personalized treatment plans and using evidence-based therapeutic techniques to address various emotional, behavioral, and psychological challenges.

Furthermore, the clinician will play a vital role in coordinating with school personnel, such as teachers, counselors, and administrative staff, to ensure a comprehensive approach to student well-being. The clinician will also collaborate with community organizations to enhance the support network available to students, ensuring they receive holistic and preventative behavioral health services. This position is integral to promoting mental health and well-being within the school environment and the broader community.

.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • RAP-A Curriculum Implementation:
  • Deliver the Resourceful Adolescent Program (RAP-A) curriculum in a school-based setting, targeting all students in a particular grade to prevent stigmatization.
  • Tailor the 11-session curriculum, each approximately 50 minutes, to meet the unique needs of the student population and ensure its effective integration into the school environment.
  • Teach students essential skills to enhance their resilience and ability to manage stress and adversity, utilizing cognitive-behavioral and interpersonal approaches.
  • Focus on seven major areas, including strengths recognition, self-regulation skills, cognitive restructuring, problem-solving models, psychological support networks, perspective-taking, and conflict resolution.
  • Individual Therapy:
  • Provide one-on-one therapeutic services to students and families facing emotional, behavioral, or psychological challenges.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans with clear therapeutic goals.
  • Utilize evidence-based therapeutic techniques to support student mental health.
  • Provide individual therapy as necessary for those students that need more than prevention services.

Group Therapy:

  • Facilitate group therapy sessions that focus on common issues such as stress, anxiety, peer relationships, and resilience building.
  • Create a safe and supportive group environment where students can share and learn from each other.
  • Integrate RAP-A components like cognitive restructuring, problem-solving models, and building psychological support networks.

Family Therapy:

  • Conduct family therapy sessions to address familial issues that impact student well-being.
  • Engage families in the therapeutic process to foster a collaborative approach to mental health.
  • Provide education and resources to families to support their child’s mental health.
  • Coordination with School Personnel:
  • Collaborate with teachers, school counselors, and administrative staff to identify and support students in need of services.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student progress and coordinate care.
  • Provide consultation and training to school staff on behavioral health issues and prevention strategies.
  • Community Collaboration:
  • Establish and maintain relationships with community organizations to enhance the support network for students.
  • Coordinate referrals to community-based services as needed to provide comprehensive care.
  • Engage in outreach activities to raise awareness of behavioral health resources available to students and families.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of all therapy sessions and interventions.
  • Prepare and submit reports as required by the FQHC, school administration, and regulatory bodies.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal, ethical, and professional standards in the provision of mental health services.

Quality Management

  • Contributes to the organization's success by participating in quality improvement activities, taking part in peer audits, attending appropriate QA meetings and training, and performing job duties within the scope of practice and in accordance with best practices in a legal and ethical manner.

Privacy Policy and HIPAA Compliance
