Job Summary: As an Accounting Assistant within our construction company, you'll support our financial infrastructure by managing and executing daily accounting tasks and general office support. This role demands a solid foundation in construction accounting practices and a high degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. While this role will currently only require 20-30 hours a week, there is potential for it to turn into a full-time position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Uphold compliance standards for insurance.
  • Provide administrative support to the finance department by organizing documents, managing correspondence, and fielding inquiries.
  • Request, file, and track lien waivers from subcontractors and vendors once payment has been made.
  • Enter invoices into construction management software with accuracy and attention to detail; ensuring all proper documentation is in place.
  • Open, review, and sort mail daily.
  • Manage and order office supplies.
  • Office filing and scanning of documents, general office organization.
  • Serve as backup for the Accounting Manager and assist in projects as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field, with a strong preference for candidates with education or training in construction accounting. Experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Demonstrable experience in an accounting role, ideally within the construction sector, highlighting a comprehensive understanding of construction financial practices.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly in Excel, and familiarity with accounting software like QuickBooks or Sage.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Effective communication skills and the capability to work collaboratively across various departments.
  • Adaptability to the evolving needs of the business and the construction industry.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to remain stationary for prolonged periods.
  • Occasional mobility around the office is needed for file access, equipment operation, etc.

Work Environment: This role is based in a professional office setting, utilizing standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers regularly.
