We are seeking a high level, high energy, highly creative professional Sous Chef for the Hotel Indigo Austin Downtown. The ideal candidate will design, supervise, coordinate and participate in activities of the culinary team and other kitchen personnel in Ladybird Bar + Kitchen, Skyline Pool Bar, and 6,000 sq feet of flexible banquet space. This position is recognized as the technical expert, teacher and trainer for this operation and the culinary team. In this role, you will select and develop recipes, create presentations for clients, establish food cost controls and offers solutions. This position will ensure quality consistency and creativity are at the highest level while maximizing the operations personnel and resources. Candidates must possess innovation and creative Culinary flair along with outstanding verbal and written communication.


Creative and innovative culinary skill while meeting property financial goals

  • A teacher of the importance of consistency in preparation and presentation
  • Thorough knowledge of food handling and preparation techniques
  • Experience in production of large banquets and special events
  • Instill safety and sanitation habits in all associates
  • Current on new products, presentations, and technical execution
  • Strong inventory and cost control with an understanding of finding solutions
  • 2 or 4 year formal culinary degree from an accredited Culinary School
  • 5 years of culinary experience with no less than 1 years as an Executive Chef or Executive Sous at a high quality operation
