General Summary:

The Assistant Manager for the Front End will be a key part in managing our Front End under the direction of the Assistant Store Director. The Assistant Manager must have a commitment to take care of our customers first and ensure our team members do the same. They will be responsible for overall daily operation of the Front End department, ensuring the department is running properly and profitably, and ensuring excellent customer service by establishing positive, and upbeat atmosphere.


Responsibilities:

  • Takes care of customers with the highest level of customer service
  • Upholds and enforce Kessler’s Customer Service Platform
  • Monitors checkout lanes to reduce customer delay – calls additional team members when the situation warrants
  • Makes change transactions for tills
  • Ensures proper bagging procedures are being followed, and assist with bagging as needed
  • Ensures shop backs are returned in a timely manner
  • Assists in and monitors new employee training
  • Operates/troubleshoots POS system
  • Weigh, scan and ring up purchases
  • Scans alcohol and tobacco purchases as needed
  • Handles customer concerns and issues ensuring customer leaves satisfied
  • Trained in completing incident report/corrective action reports
  • Handles customer returns in accordance with Kessler’s return policy
  • Oversee the overall cleanliness of front end outside lot
  • Take initiative to identify, report and resolve problems quickly
  • Maintain job-related confidentiality
  • Maintain positive work environment
  • Take sick calls and find replacements
  • Manage staff breaks to ensure adequate staffing
  • With assistance of Assistant Store Director – handle personnel issues
  • Weigh, scan and ring up purchases
  • Apply coupons and other applicable discounts
  • Process all types of sales transactions accepted by the store
  • Maintain cleanliness of workstations
  • Responsible for Closing the Store 1 to 2 nights a week
  • Conducts store wide audits
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • Thorough understanding of our store and its policies, maintaining a profession demeanor at all times
  • Ability to demonstrate The Kessler Core Values in their work and relationships
  • Ability to patiently explain training material to those with little to no experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Organized with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of the Front End Team
  • 1-2 years of retail experience
  • Ability to works nights, weekends and holidays

Physical Demands:

  • Included by not limited to long periods of standing, walking, bending, squatting, twisting, and lifting up to 75 lbs. during a shift
  • Ability to work in a variety of temperatures
