Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Purchasing & CAD Engineering Manager is a hybrid role that combines the strategic oversight of procurement activities with the technical expertise of CAD engineering. This position is responsible for managing the purchasing of materials and services critical to our manufacturing processes, while also leading design and engineering projects to innovate and improve our product offerings. The ideal candidate will be adept at balancing cost-effective procurement strategies with cutting-edge design and engineering solutions to support our operational and product development objectives.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Develop and execute purchasing strategies to secure high-quality materials and services at competitive prices.
Manage supplier relationships, including negotiating contracts, ensuring timely delivery, and maintaining quality standards.
Lead the design and development of new products and improvements to existing products using CAD software.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality control, and R&D, to ensure design specifications meet manufacturing capabilities and product requirements.
Oversee the management of CAD files and documentation, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
Analyze market trends and supplier performance to adjust purchasing strategies and practices as needed.
Drive cost reduction initiatives through strategic sourcing, process improvements, and design optimizations.
Provide leadership, guidance, and support to the purchasing and CAD engineering teams.
Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies throughout the purchasing and design processes.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within manufacturing or a related industry.
Strong proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and experience in product design and development.
Solid understanding of purchasing principles and experience in supplier management and contract negotiation.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to work collaboratively across departments.
Demonstrated leadership skills with a focus on team development and performance improvement.
