Empowered Staffing is partnered with an owner and operator of skilled nursing facilities throughout the nation. They are currently seeking an experienced Director of Nursing to join their team in Niles to provide management and leadership to the clinical staff.


The DON will be responsible for providing nursing management, setting resident standards for all direct care providers, and providing complete supervision and management of the nursing department. Has twenty-four (24) hour responsibility, authority, and accountability for managing nursing care for residents and supervising the nursing staff.


Responsibilities:

  • Assume responsibility for developing nursing service objectives and performance standards of nursing practice for each category of nursing personnel.

  • Interview, select, and hire clinical staff who will plan, provide, and evaluate care of the elderly and chronically ill residents.

  • Direct, evaluate, and supervise all resident care and initiate corrective action as necessary.

  • Assess resident pre-admission and/or admission information and determine the appropriate level of care.

  • Assess resident needs and make recommendations for special rehabilitation programs.

  • Consult with the interdisciplinary team members on appropriate and continued resident care needs each week at the Medicare, continuum of Care and other meetings.

  • Evaluate resident care as related to individualized resident needs, family involvement, and the physician’s plan of care for the resident.

  • Assess resident responses to medication and treatments and make appropriate recommendations for nursing action to be implemented.

  • Collaborate and consult with physicians, other healthcare professionals, residents, and families in establishing the most suitable environment for residents in the facility.

  • Consistently make accurate level of care determinations, based on the physician’s recommendations and the resident’s plan of care.

  • Establish good public relations with hospital discharge coordinators and social service consultants.


Required Education/Experience:

  • Diploma from an accredited school of nursing and a current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois

  • Previous management experience

  • Able to work under stress and be emotionally capable of coping with complex and/or changing activities

  • Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies
