Job Summary:
As the Director of Surgical Services, you will have 24/7 responsibility for the surgical services department, overseeing all aspects of patient care, staff management, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and address potential issues within the department, implementing effective solutions.
- Participate in service, departmental, and hospital-wide committees, ensuring ongoing communication.
- Enhance the customer experience within Surgical Services.
- Provide feedback and coaching to subordinates, facilitating individual development plans.
- Communicate departmental and organizational information effectively to staff.
- Foster strong relationships and networks to achieve department and organizational goals.
- Enforce standards of care and ensure consistent compliance.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate ongoing surgical services programs to ensure quality patient care.
- Monitor compliance with regulatory, accrediting, and hospital policies, as well as safety standards.
- Oversee a PI program that evaluates critical aspects of care.
- Ensure operational excellence by delivering quality services in line with professional standards.
- Support new program strategies or enhancements to expand patient services.
- Manage the department's fiscal resources responsibly.
- Promote a positive patient experience that aligns with the organization's mission and values.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing required.
- Master's degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a leadership role, or equivalent education/experience combination.
- Current RN licensure required in the state of practice.
- CNOR (Certified Nursing Operating Room) certification preferred.
- CSSM (Certified Surgical Services Manager) certification preferred.
Additional Information:
- 14 ORs at the main location, plus 3 additional ORs at another facility.
- Experience in Level 1 trauma and open-heart surgeries is essential.
- Strong emphasis on improving operational efficiency, room turnaround times, and first-case on-time starts.
- Previous experience managing a large surgical services department is required.
- Strong leadership skills are necessary to enhance employee and physician engagement.
- Must have previous director experience.
