Director of Surgical Operations

ReqOverflow is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Surgical Services to lead our perioperative team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for ensuring safe patient care while effectively managing operations.
Key Responsibilities- Identify and implement solutions to real/potential problems affecting the service
- Participate in service, departmental, and hospital-wide committees to provide ongoing communication
- Advance the customer experience in Surgical Services
- Coach subordinates through feedback, constructive critique, and individual development plans
- Adhere to all Human Resource policies
- Effectively communicate departmental, organizational, and industry information to staff
- Facilitate evidence-based employee engagement practices
- Build strong relationships and networks to deliver organizational and departmental goals
- Participate in employee and patient rounding to identify and mentor potential future leaders
- Enforce standards of care for surgical services and develop processes to measure compliance
- Develop, implement, and evaluate an ongoing surgical services program to ensure quality patient care
- Monitor compliance with regulatory, accrediting, and hospital policies, as well as patient, personnel, and environmental safety
- Oversee a PI program to consistently monitor and evaluate critical aspects of care
- Ensure delivery of quality services in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, and professional standards
- Follow the Hospital Exposure Control Plans/Blood-borne and Airborne Pathogens
- Enforce safe procedural site and patient verification policy
- Monitor and respond to quality event reporting
- Support new program strategies and/or program enhancements to expand patient services
- Develop, prioritize, and defend capital equipment requests
- Manage the fiscal resources of the department to ensure proper utilization
- Advance the growth agenda for Surgical Services
- Strive to become the OR of Choice for physicians, patients, staff, and payers in the community
- Demonstrate a poised and confident demeanor to reassure others and command respect
- Develop and build strategic internal and external networks
- Promote consistent positive patient interactions to advance the agenda of unparalleled patient service
- Practice and adhere to the Code of Conduct philosophy and Mission and Value Statement
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in nursing required
- Master's degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred
- 3+ years of experience in a leadership role preferred or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state in which they practice, in accordance with law and regulation required
- Certified Nursing Operating Room (CNOR) preferred
- Certified Surgical Services Manager (CSSM) preferred
- 14 ORs in main and across the street have 3 ORs
- Level 1 trauma, open heart, no transplant
- Physician engagement better but needs someone to own relationships
- Volume/growth - volume is growing, on inpatient side up 3% and outpatient side up 17% growth
- 3 managers total
- FTEs 100 FTEs
- MUST HAVE previous director experience
