Service Technician II is responsible for repairing, programming and inspecting existing security systems of varying complexities. The service territory for this role is throughout New Hampshire and Massachusetts. This role requires a thorough understanding of basic electronics, wiring circuits, basic troubleshooting methods, and a good understanding of basic test equipment use. Preferred candidates should have prior installation experience. A successful candidate for this role will have excellent customer service skills and excellent troubleshooting skills.

Requirements:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Perform repairs, inspection, and programming of basic to high complexity systems
  • Perform routine scheduled system inspections, preventative maintenance inspections and general break fix calls
  • Perform light installations as required for small add-ons or deletions
  • Perform system removals as needed
  • Participate in scheduled customer reach out blitzes, targeted upgrade initiatives and service generating programs
  • Follow and/or adapt proper schematic wiring diagrams and termination procedures
  • Test operation of system to confirm compliance to original scope of work, 100% functionality and customer’s satisfaction
  • Mark up as-built drawings, system documentation and device schedules to keep internal documentation current with changes
  • Assist Project Managers and Installation Technicians with IT coordination, implementation, system commissioning support and final documentation as needed
  • Engage with Operations Manager or Project Managers with service job status and small project issues
  • Work safely and responsibly to avoid injuries, avoid damage to property, track truck stock materials to prevent loss, and clean up debris and work areas
  • Overnight stay and travel while performing service duties at remote job locations and job training when required

Minimum skills and qualifications:

  • Possess a valid state issued driver’s license
  • 3-5 years direct industry experience
  • Experience troubleshooting Mercury Hardware, Andover Controls, Genetec, and Axis Cameras highly preferred.
  • Meet state qualifications for alarm licensing and electronics security personnel as required
  • Thorough understanding of installation methods, troubleshooting methods, best practices, and procedures
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical diagrams.
  • Thorough understanding of field test equipment and special tools i.e. multimeter, cable tester, fiber kit, etc.
  • Thorough understanding of IP networks
  • Understanding of advanced network troubleshooting
  • Thorough understanding of electronic security technology
  • Thorough understanding of building code, life safety code, and National Electric Code (NEC)
  • Ability to use basic office software such as NetSuite®, Microsoft Excel®, Microsoft Word®, and Microsoft Outlook®.
  • Professional and courteous in demeanor with customers
  • Ability to safely work at heights on ladders and aerial lifts
  • Ability to work independently or with a field crew
  • Attention to safety best practices
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
