Job DescriptionJob Description

Summary: Anchor Construction Corporation has an immediate opening for a full-time Human Resources Generalist with significant experience working in the construction industry. As an HR team, we are modernizing and delivering our services in new and creative ways, including upgrading our tools and processes to the most modern in the market. This role is part of a broader HR team charged with designing and executing a HR strategy that is driving the broader Anchor Construction business objectives. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in HR as well as some experience coordinating project-related activities. This position is located in Lanham, Maryland and reports to the Sr. Director of Human Resources. Fluency in English and Spanish is required for this position.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Together with the Recruiting Manager, handle all onboarding, new hire orientation, including notification to relevant departments, data entry into a HR information system and auditing for accuracy and compliance.
  • Administer all health and welfare programs and communicate with service providers concerning routine administration of health and welfare programs.
  • Participate in planning for and participating in annual open enrollment program, communicate plan coverage and any plan changes to employees; this frequently involves discussions in Spanish only.
  • Assist Recruiting Manager and company leadership in recruiting process by coordinating job postings, reviewing resumes, conduct phone interview screenings, and perform background checks required by the company.
  • Respond to human resource related inquiries from employees in a timely fashion.
  • Ensure compliance with current and new employment regulatory requirements.
  • Establish and maintain employee records as needed.
  • Utilize spreadsheets and project management tools to assist with human resources project schedules.
  • Monitor, track and report on the status of project deliverables to ensure time, cost and quality metrics are in line with approved project plans for assigned projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university highly desirable
  • 5+ years of experience in progressively responsible human resources roles; experience in the construction industry highly desirable
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently on multiple priorities while maintaining flexibility to changing and expanding job duties or assignments.
  • Ability to plan and manage all aspects of assigned projects, to maintain schedules, and meet project requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, and experience with HRIS programs (Sage products)
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Ability to protect confidential and sensitive information
  • Maintain and abide by all safety requirements
  • Ability to read and write in English
  • Ability to work overtime as needed
  • Ability to work effectively with minor supervision
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities effectively
  • Strong proactive thinking skills and ability to develop systems
