Job Summary

Provide cable plant engineering support services. Work with the appropriate government leads to define and execute the systems engineering processes and activities required to support office renovations and large scale building fit-up efforts. Provide engineering support guiding the program through a disciplined sequence of steps appropriate to developing structured cable plant solution to satisfy customer requirements and organizational tactical/strategic objectives.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Work with the appropriate government leads to define and execute the systems engineering processes and activities required to support the fit-up of project specific IT infrastructure.
  • Provide engineering support guiding the program through a disciplined sequence of steps appropriate to develop cable plant solutions to satisfy customer requirements and organizational tactical/strategic objectives.
  • Provide cable plant engineering expertise to develop technical cable plant solutions to solve customer network requirements.
  • Provide support to the requirements gathering process, including identifying, logging, and tracking existing and new requirements.
  • Provide guidance and expertise in the creation and implementation of new processes in response to issues or problems.
  • Create engineering artifacts that satisfy requirements.
  • Coordinate/assist in documenting existing programs into a cohesive architecture.
  • Prepare detailed IT designs based on Integrated Architectures and government/industry standards.
  • Document site-specific technical requirements and provide implementation strategies.
  • Perform Gap Analysis of existing cable plants/active network architectures.
  • Evaluate operational and technical alternatives, providing options/solutions while ensuring interoperability of system requirements.
  • Identify risks or potential obstacles to fulfilling architectural requirements. (U) Provide Technical Integration Oversight.
  • Collaborate with constituent NSA service providers to ensure that design documents and delivered services are consistent with the architecture.
  • Provide status and progress reports through periodic formal reviews and through informal meetings.
  • Maintain a document change/configuration control system.
  • Prepare briefings, status reporting mechanism, and metrics.
  • Evaluate and design augmentations of new and existing agency cable plant and data center infrastructures to satisfy customer technical requirements.
  • Design and architect cable plant infrastructures for outside cable plant, vertical and premise cabling systems.
  • Collaborate with external and internal active network service providers on the design, layout and implementation of indoor (horizontal & vertical) and outdoor cable plants (vertical/PDS) to support their active architectures/infrastructures.
  • Conduct long-term analysis of existing facilities and capabilities along with future trends and requirements.
  • Perform capacity analysis and management of cable plant infrastructure resources (inside and outside plant).
  • Review building design and construction drawings for IT fit-up and cable plant integrations/upgrades.
  • Review conduit and duct layouts.
  • Produce and review necessary Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Visio documentation.
  • Support the review of JIRA and/or Service Now tickets to receive and address customer requirements.
Experience Needed:
  • Citizenship: Must Be a US Citizen
  • Existing Clearance Required: Active Top Secret SCI with Poly
  • Seven (7) years experience, as a Cable Plant manager/engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type and complexity is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related professional engineering discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Five (5) years of additional Cable Plant experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
