Solar Service Technician (Commercial)


Summary Description:


For the last 15 years, California Solar Integrators, Inc.(Cal Solar Inc.) and it’s companies have delivered exceptional customer service by designing and building high quality solar thermal and solar power systems across California.


Our Commercial Solar Field Technician is a multi-talented individual in renewable solar systems. This includes Photovoltaic Solar, Solar Thermal, and Solar Pool Heating.


Reporting to our Director of O&M, the Commercial Solar Field technician provides on-site support to our existing portfolio of systems. In addition, the technician will train field staff in the best practices and implementations of new systems.


Position Responsibilities will Include, But Not Be Limited To:


  • Demonstrate strong initiative, integrity, and work ethic.
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance on solar installations and necessary repairs
  • Correctly diagnose the root cause of system issues and perform corrective actions in accordance with Cal Solar, Customer, and Manufacturer standards.
  • Communicate with on-site staff during site visits
  • Provide exceptional customer service during all job duties
  • Thoroughly document site visit with adequate photos and videos
  • Provide technical support and training, as requested
  • Accurately communicate resources needed to resolve issues for proper budget and staff allotment


Desired Skills and Experience:


  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in Solar
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background and motor vehicle record check
  • Effective communicator orally and in writing (bi-lingual a plus)
  • Able to operate a computer to look at system data, write emails, and write site visit reports
  • Strong understanding of the NEC Code and the ability to reference the code as required
  • Strong understanding of electrical wiring, theory and the trade
  • Ability to read, understand, and edit (red-line) electrical, plumbing, and structural plans


Working Conditions:


  • Required to work more than 80% of the time in the field. The rest of the time will be spent completing administrative duties.
  • Will be required to travel within California

The starting hourly pay for this role is between USD $35.00 and $50.00 per hour.  The actual base is dependent upon many factors, such as: location, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
