SUMMARY:
The Clinical Supervisor is required to perform all duties of a Licensed Practical Nurse, function as the resource person to the non-licensed clinical staff and licensed Practical Nurses and acts as the liaison between management and staff. Primarily responsible for the onboarding and mentorship of new medical assistants/certified nursing assistants and licensed practical nurses. Will work directly with the Practice Manager in development of the nursing staff, excluding Registered Nurses, with education, department competencies, performance reviews, patient safety, and patient complaints. In the absence of the Practice Manager, will provide direction, planning and coordination of daily activities to ensure efficient patient care.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Consistently applies the Brown Urology values of patient care with priority, dignity, collaboration, integrity, and quality in support of the Brown Urology mission to deliver compassionate, high-quality patient care. Responsible for knowing and acting in accordance with Brown Urology’s Code of Conduct and consistently practices Brown Urology’s Customer Service Standards.
- Supervision of licensed practical nursing and non- licensed clinical staff.
- Delivers direct nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing staff.
- Provides clinical direction, coordination, and evaluation of patient care.
- Identifies and resolves issues affecting patient flow and the delivery of care.
- Responsible for daily staffing assignments.
- Ensures complete and accurate documentation of patient care according to established policies and procedures.
- Responsible for maintaining and ensuring that all site equipment is in good condition and regularly inspected.
- Ensures staff adherence to all clinical and nursing policies and procedures. Adheres to infection control and safety guidelines and develops clinical standards to meet practice needs. Develops and implements procedures and best practices to facilitate care for patients in a timely manner. Develops and implements initiatives to improve patient satisfaction.
- Provides supervision, evaluates performance, conducts interview selection, on-boarding and participates in termination process.
- Assesses the environment and makes recommendations to ensure optimal patient comfort, safety, and compliance with various regulatory agencies (OSHA, etc.)
- Will perform all other duties, as assigned and within the scope of practice and expectations of a licensed practical nurse.
BASIC KNOWLEDGE:
- Completion LPN license program or state approved training program, certificate, or associate degree
- LPN license
- BLS certification
- 2 years of relevant urology/surgery experience either in a hospital or office setting.
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions necessary to maintain a safe work environment.
- Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively.
- Ability to represent the organization and serve customers in a professional manner and the ability to establish and maintain effective, professional working relationships with patients, physicians, supervisors and peers.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Conditions common to a clinical practice environment including potential exposure to communicable diseases, medicinal preparations, and hazardous materials. Involves frequent contact with patients. Work may be stressful at times.
