JOB SUMMARY

Position Title: Domestic Violence Counselor/Advocate

Program: Domestic Violence Services

Classification: Non-Exempt/Full Time

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBITIES

  • Provide trauma-informed counseling/advocacy services and case management services to resident and community clients.
  • Develop resident/client service plans; assist residents and clients to complete goal plans within seven (7) days of intake.
  • Assess needs of resident/client and facilitate appropriate referrals.
  • Complete client intakes and exits. Ensure all client information is accurate and complete. Complete required client data entry and documentation in secure database.
  • Provide support and coverage as part of the DVS Safe House team, including hotline and text line, front desk, and on-call, weekend and holiday coverage, on a rotating schedule.
  • Communicate essential information in appropriate logs in accordance with DVS policy and procedures.
  • Provide outreach services to target and underserved populations in the community. Advocate for domestic violence victims with other agencies and in the community.
  • Assist to facilitate DV support groups.
  • Complete 10 hours of continuing DV education annually.
  • Perform other job-related duties as requested by supervisor.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services or related field plus 2 years of social services experience OR equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Commitment to providing trauma-informed services.
  • General proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and internet web-based applications.
  • Good written and verbal communications skills.
  • Social justice mindset. Strong desire to participate in and promote a trauma-informed, empowering culture that celebrates diversity.
  • Bilingual skills strongly preferred.
