Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Audit Manager with a specialized focus in audits of credit unions or financial institutions. The ideal candidate will have the ability to manage a book of business for industry-recognized credit unions with assets ranging from $300 million to $1.2 billion. The Audit Manager will oversee all aspects of the audit process, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and regulatory requirements, while providing exceptional service to our clients.

 

Key Responsibilities:
• Manage and supervise audit staff, including providing training, feedback, and review of work.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations and mentor staff to promote professional development.
• Supervise the completion of approximately 12-15 annual financial statement audits.
• Prepare US GAAP compliant financial statements and related financial institution footnote disclosures.
• Conduct and oversee audits of high-risk areas such as Allowance for Credit Losses, Deferred Compensation Plans, Mortgage Servicing Rights, and regulatory capital.
• Perform internal control testing and conduct comprehensive risk assessments.
• Conduct various regulatory compliance engagements including ACH compliance, BSA/OFAC/USA PATRIOT Act, SAFE Act compliance, Fair Lending, and CEO/CFO exit audits.
• Stay informed on industry and NCUA developments, serving as a valuable resource to credit union clients.
• Draft Governance Communication intended for executive management, Boards of Directors, and credit union Supervisory Committees.
• Draft material weakness and significant deficiency communications.
• Perform detailed financial statement and key ratio analysis to identify important financial trends in client operations.
• Present financial statements and audit reports to executive management and governance bodies (Board and/or Supervisory Committee).
• Prepare monthly client billings and track engagement letters.
• Perform ongoing price adjustment reviews and track audit budgets throughout engagements.
• Nurture relationships with key stakeholders and ensure high client satisfaction.
• Work in the business development area to grow the credit union department.
• Ensure that industry-specific audit and regulatory compliance reports are current and accurate.
• Provide relevant financial institutions/industry and audit-related training to staff.
• Stay updated with the latest industry trends and regulatory changes to provide clients with informed insights.

 

Qualifications:
• CPA certification required.
• 7-10 years of audit experience with a focus on credit unions.
• Proven ability to manage a book of business and lead audit engagements.
• In-depth knowledge of US GAAP, credit union regulations, and high-risk audit areas.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform detailed financial analysis.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience presenting to executive management and governance bodies.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and develop staff.
• Strong client relationship management skills and business development acumen.
