Job Summary:

The Senior Manager of Operations and Maintenance directs the performance and the activities of the equipment, building and grounds maintenance, ensures the reliability and availability of manufacturing equipment and production rooms and oversees the management of construction projects and BioSpectra’s vehicle fleet.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership
    • Participates in leadership discussions regarding how the operations and maintenance departments can best impact the achievement of BioSpectra’s strategic goals.
    • Establishes annual and on-going goals for the operations and maintenance departments.
  • Departmental Leadership
    • Develops and implements a site operation plan for each BioSpectra site and facility, to operate safely and in compliance with applicable quality systems standards and current federal, state and local regulations.
    • Directs the operations and maintenance departments to abide by good housekeeping practices and comply with OSHA safety and health regulations.
  • Equipment Reliability Program Management
    • Directs the development and implementation of a PM program and a computerized work order management system (CMMS) to minimize unplanned equipment downtime.
    • Oversees the installation and the development of preventative maintenance procedures for new process and related equipment.
    • Oversees the planning, scheduling and maintaining of all PMs for manufacturing equipment to ensure an orderly distribution of assignments and that the assigned staff is properly trained.
    • Monitors equipment and spare parts inventory and directs orders be placed in advance to ensure sufficient equipment and spare parts are available.
  • Process Equipment Room Maintenance
    • Oversees maintenance staff activities to ensure manufacturing process rooms are operating in a validated state and a state of audit readiness.
    • Directs maintenance management to create, develop and maintain a response program to ensure capable 24-7 response to plant emergencies and oversees the assignment of staff for emergency and unscheduled repairs.
  • Managing Operations and Maintenance Staff
    • Responsible for hiring, motivating and building the capabilities of the operations and maintenance departments.
    • Oversees the quality of work and performance of the operations and maintenance teams and directs management staff to coach and recognize individuals as appropriate.
    • Directs the development of training to ensure that all maintenance staff is trained appropriately and their training is documented for tasks assigned.
  • Construction & Project Management
    • Directs the management of BioSpectra construction projects to ensure they are completed on time, within scope and within budget.
    • Oversees construction projects to ensure they are performed as directed and compliant with applicable industry standards.
  • Facilities Maintenance
    • Oversees the establishment and implementation of procedures to ensure all facilities related equipment are properly maintained and in continual effective working order.
  • Property Management
    • Oversees the management of BioSpectra outside property ensuring it continually maintains Company standards.
  • Fleet Management
    • Oversees all fleet related activities to ensure they achieve internal BioSpectra commitments, are managed effectively.
  • Cost Management & Improvements
    • Directs the development and implementation of efficient and cost-effective processes and utility systems to meet current and future operational needs of the organization.
  • Vendor Management
    • Directs the selection, oversees the performance of, and addresses gaps in the performance of outside vendors who perform work on behalf of the Operation department.

Qualifications:

  • Education
    • A Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, building maintenance or other related degree and/or commensurate experience is required.

Experience:

  • A minimum of ten plus years of mechanical equipment and/or building maintenance experience with a chemical and/or materials manufacturer is required.
  • Maintenance management experience with an organization that requires compliance with cGMP regulations is required.
  • Construction and building maintenance management experience, knowledge of industry standards, and having a demonstrated knowledge of environmental and safety standards, is preferred.
  • Prior experience developing and implementing successful equipment and facilities reliability and preventative maintenance programs is preferred.
  • Prior experience developing and implementing successful building maintenance programs is ideal.
  • Prior experience leading organizations with excellent safety and health programs is ideal.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of CMMS programs and building maintenance work order systems.
  • Demonstrated mechanical ability to work with production and maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, to employees at all levels, include=ing making presentations to senior leadership.
  • Ability to lead and motivate others to achieve a high level of performance.
  • Ability to assess situations and act decisively and effectively.
  • Ability to manage complex and competing priorities and effectively communicate across multiple departments and functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess problems and determine effective solutions.

Work Hours:

  • Exempt Position
  • Minimum of 50-60 Hours Week, or other agreed upon documented schedule
  • Ability and willingness to work from all BioSpectra facilities
