IT Support Technician, OPA - Anchorage, Full- Time

OrthoAlaska seeks a skilled, dedicated and professional IT Support Technician to join our rapidly growing and dynamic practice. The primary purpose of this position is to be responsible for helping employees troubleshoot and fix computer related problems, support for hardware and software problems, and end-user training.

The shifts for this position are generally M-F, 8am-5pm, and/or adjusted to clinic needs.

Ideal attributes
• Knowledge of operating systems, word processing, database applications, spreadsheet applications, email, network environment, IP/VPN environment and diagnostic
• Knowledge of computer training principles and techniques and customer service-related concepts

• Knowledge of computer programs and computer hardware and troubleshooting techniques

Representative duties
• Works with CIO and Director of IT to set up new computers; install, reconfigure or reinstall operating systems and software
• Sets up and helps train new hires on computer hardware, software, and other equipment
• Provides employee end-user’s with Level 1 Tech Support for phones, computers, hardware peripherals, printers and business-related software
• Assisting employees with the set up and ongoing access to hospital EMR portals
• Records and files all computer problems, documenting corrective action taken within OrthoAlaska’s ticket tracking software

Knowledge and skill requirements
• Knowledge of operating systems, word processing, database applications, spreadsheet applications, email, network environment, IP/VPN environment and diagnostic
• Knowledge of computer training principles and techniques and customer service-related concepts

• Knowledge of computer programs and computer hardware and troubleshooting techniques

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Professional, personable and caring, and able to help patients feel at ease
• Understanding of team principles
• Able to maintain a calm demeanor when under pressure
• High school diploma or equivalent

• Two years of experience in IT technical and desktop support or related occupations (preferably in the healthcare industry)
