PAY: $17.95/hr

The Print Center Technician is responsible for providing print services to all campus constituents while managing and maintaining the on-campus Output Center that houses a variety of machines and papers including, but not limited to: Epson large format printer 9900, a Xerox Versant 280, a Duplo slitter/cutter/creaser, a Roland Camm-1 vinyl cutter, a Canon GP-4000, and a Canon TM-305. Reports to the Sr. Director of Creative Technology. As an academic year appointment, this is a 9-month position that typically begins work 5 days before the start of the fall/spring semesters and ends 5 days after the end of the fall/spring semesters.

Essential Functional Responsibilities:

  • Organize and coordinate the facility

  • Deliver high-quality prints and other output in a timely manner from archival, high quality one offs of artwork to high volume print jobs for the entire campus

  • Install, setup, maintain, and use Print Center equipment

  • Maintain the facility budget and all operational/ business aspects efficiently and accurately

  • Seek out and implement student/faculty/staff suggestions

  • Oversee a staff of seven work study students.

  • Implement new products, technology, and efficiency to increase client volume and absorb campus outsourcing

  • Create accurate, high-quality pieces

  • Field printing questions and offer advice for every client to suit their needs

  • Complete other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications:

The candidate is able to:

  • Work independently and as a part of a team, while maintaining cooperative work relationships.

  • Use current computer equipment and programs being used by the center. Including, but not limited to:

    • Microsoft Office Suite products (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

    • Familiar with Google (gmail, calendar, google docs, etc.)

    • Adobe Creative Cloud (specifically Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign)

  • Monitor own work for accuracy and thoroughness.

  • Multi-task and shift priorities as required.

  • Identify problems, reason logically, draw valid conclusions, and assure responses toward solutions.

  • Efficiently manage and prepare files, including but not limited to image sizing and image quality.

  • Handle increased workloads during peak times, while maintaining a professional and inviting decorum in the face of time sensitive demands.

  • Quickly and efficiently output products.

  • Respond positively to direct supervision and be able to work autonomously, setting priorities while adhering to established policies and procedures.

  • Clearly communicate with others in writing and in person.

  • Prioritize and plan work activities and use time efficiently, including responding to emails and requests in a timely manner.

  • Work a minimum of 37.5 hours a week with occasional overtime (evenings and weekends) for meetings during peak times


The candidate must possess the following:

  • Strong administrative, computer, and organizational skills.

  • Visual sensitivity and ability to communicate effectively with artists ranging from first year students to experienced professionals.

  • Comprehensive understanding of color management.

  • Understanding of paper profiles and how to download and install them.

  • Knowledge of art presentation, including art handling, cutting, matting, framing, and mounting.

  • Extensive knowledge of photography and image making is helpful.

Required Experience/Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in related field is required

  • Experience with large format printers and digital output in order to produce quality, accurate, color outputs of various sizes, minimum 2 years.

  • Experience with both PC and Mac platforms.

  • Extensive experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, specifically Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.

  • Extensive understanding of common business practices and finances.

Preferred Experience/Education:

● A background in the visual arts
