CANDIDATE PROFILE

Latino Network seeks a bilingual (Spanish/English), mission-driven professional with bi-cultural proficiency and proven nonprofit and community experience to lead a full range of activities for a growing organization. As part of a dedicated team working toward a shared vision, the Clackamas County Diversion Coordinator is charged with providing diversion services to youth and families. This is a roll- up-your-sleeves position with the capacity to impact the numbers of youth entering the juvenile justice system. If you are resourceful, outcome-oriented, and able to build strong relationships, then the Latino Network is the place for you.


POSITION DESCRIPTION

This position will provide bi-lingual and bi-cultural case management and assertive engagement for Latino and other youth eligible for diversion services in Clackamas County. This program provides support, resources, and referrals to appropriate services with the goal of preventing youth from entering deeper into the juvenile justice system. Referrals will come from the Clackamas County Juvenile Department. The RICH Diversion Coordinator will conduct screening and assessments, work with youth and their families as well as other service providers to collaboratively set goals for the youth’s success. The Clackamas County Diversion Coordinator will closely monitor and document progress for the youth and family plans. The position requires consistent contact with clients, data entry, and regular communication with service providers and contracting agency.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrates leadership in program development, organization, coordination, and evaluation services for the Clackamas County Diversion program.
  • Works collaboratively with Clackamas County Juvenile Department and other appropriate county departments, Police Departments, and City governments in 11 cities within Clackamas County as well as other community partners to provide diversion services for youth in order to prevent penetration into the juvenile justice system.
  • Attend YST Meetings.
  • Applies restorative justice training, practices, and values to daily client interactions and recommendations.
  • Demonstrates leadership in program development, organization, coordination, and evaluation services for the Clackamas County Diversion program.
  • Facilitate and co-facilitate skill building circles/restorative justice circles
  • Develop and maintain professional and trusting relationships with youth and families that encourage positive social and emotional development.
  • Create and nurture Protective Factors (caring relationships, high expectations, and relevant and meaningful participation) in each youth’s environment, including within the multi-agency team setting.
  • Enters data into Latino Network case management software.
  • Ensures absolute confidentiality with respect to all information regarding our youth and families.
  • Attends departmental and program staff meetings, all Clackamas County Diversion Program meetings, monthly all staff meetings, and all training as required.
  • Work collaboratively with youth and family to address their full range of needs by establishing short-term and long-term intervention goals for each youth using strengths based, client centered, Youth Development approach, utilizing a service plan that includes a list of needs of each client and plan for meeting each need.
  • Make referrals based on appropriate match between youth’s needs and available resources. Advocate with referral agencies as needed and when appropriate to facilitate referral for identification of client needs.
  • Exhibit an awareness of commonalities and differences among youth of diverse backgrounds and show respect for those of different talents, abilities, sexual orientation and faith. Build on diversity among and between individuals to strengthen the program community and the community at large by serving as a role model for the principles of inclusion and tolerance.
  • Documents client contact and maintains accurate files.
  • Maintains punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.
  • Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
  • Other duties as assigned by the program director.


Requirements:

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or higher and/or a minimum of two years equivalent experience in community outreach or social services.
  • Knowledge of emergency, social, education, domestic violence, child welfare, human services, and information/referral systems.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in Spanish and English (including public speaking).
  • Ability to employ critical thinking and confidence in decision-making and carrying out actions.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure, manage time, and prioritize tasks to meet goals and deadlines effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, and as a collaborative team member.
  • Commitment to personal and professional development.
  • Knowledgeable trauma informed practices with youth and families who are justice involved.
