The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with the ThousandEyes utility, including performing standard and custom configurations, creating and modifying dashboards and reports, and developing and executing performance tests. This role requires excellent analytical skills, the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot network issues, and proficiency in communicating complex technical information in simple terms.

Key Responsibilities:
  • ThousandEyes Utility Management:

    • Perform standard and custom configurations of the ThousandEyes utility to meet organizational needs.
    • Create, generate, and modify both default and custom dashboards and reports to monitor network performance and end-user experience.
    • Develop and execute tests using ThousandEyes agents to establish performance baselines and monitor network performance.
    • Create scripts to simulate transactions for performance testing, issue identification, and configuration validation.
    • Set up and modify alerts in ThousandEyes to detect service degradations or deviations from established baselines.
    • Install and uninstall ThousandEyes agents and diagnose related issues.
  • Network Analysis and Troubleshooting:

    • Analyze network data and interpret the results for troubleshooting and making improvement recommendations.
    • Identify causal sources of network and application issues, including performance problems, outages, and intermittent disruptions.
    • Design tests and formulate collected data into comprehensive reports using both visual and textual data.
  • Technical Communication and Documentation:

    • Convey complex network technical execution in simple terms to non-technical personnel.
    • Develop and maintain technical documentation, utilizing visual, audio, and textual media to enhance clarity and usability.
    • Organize technical operations into logical workflows to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
Academic Requirements:
  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum Experience Requirements:
  • Experience:

    • At least 3-5 years of experience working with the ThousandEyes utility.
    • Proven experience in performing standard and custom configurations of ThousandEyes.
    • Experience creating, generating, and modifying dashboards and reports in ThousandEyes.
    • Demonstrated experience developing and executing tests with ThousandEyes agents to monitor network performance and end-user experience.
    • Experience creating scripts to ghost transactions for performance testing and issue diagnosis.
    • Experience setting up and modifying alerts in ThousandEyes based on network performance metrics.
    • Hands-on experience with the installation and uninstallation of ThousandEyes agents and diagnosing related issues.
    • Experience diagnosing issues associated with interfacing ThousandEyes with network nodes and associated applications.
  • Technical and Analytical Skills:

    • Strong analytical skills to analyze network data and make informed troubleshooting and improvement recommendations.
    • Ability to identify the root causes of network and application issues, including performance, outages, and disruptions.
  • Communication and Organizational Skills:

    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical information for non-technical audiences.
    • Experience developing technical documentation using various media.
    • Strong organizational skills to document and streamline technical operations into logical workflows.
  • Additional Qualifications:

    • Certification in network monitoring or related fields (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, Network+) is a plus.
    • Familiarity with other network monitoring tools and methodologies is beneficial.
Work Environment:
  • This role may require occasional travel to collaborate with remote teams or attend industry conferences and training sessions.
  • The position offers flexibility for remote work, with the expectation of periodic in-office meetings and collaboration sessions.
