Job DescriptionJob Description

The Catholic Foundation of Greater Philadelphia (CFGP) is an independent, nonprofit community foundation committed to growing philanthropy according to the teachings of Jesus Christ. Grounded in the principles of faith and service, CFGP meets the diverse needs of donors and Catholic institutions through charitable fund management and development consulting. Their services ensure an investment in the future of their faith.

Reporting to the Chief Philanthropy Officer (CPO), the Advancement Officer is responsible for the overall success of annual giving, targeted community engagement initiatives, and the stewardship activities of The Catholic Foundation’s Advancement Team. This role works to attract, retain, and grow a robust base of annual donors and community supporters, and seeks to identify and cultivate new donors for both the major gift and planned gift pipeline in conjunction with CPO and Associate Director of Advancement. The Advancement Officer also provides strategic oversight and implementation of special giving and community engagement projects, as well as the Advancement Team’s recognition and stewardship initiatives. The Advancement Officer is a key member of The Catholic Foundation’s Advancement Team.

  • Build and maintain positive, donor-centric relationships with individual donors, volunteers, and community stakeholders.
  • Work effectively with CPO and Associate Director of Advancement to identify new donors and build strategies for engaging and encouraging donors to give at higher levels.
  • Lead targeted giving initiatives, as directed, to support fund growth at The Catholic Foundation.
  • Manage The Foundation’s stewardship activities, including the Legacy Society, Giving Societies, and other groups that emerge. Activities include implementing and maintaining donor recognition, managing special events for members of annual and lifetime giving societies, as well as other strategies designed to thank and celebrate Catholic Foundation and Archdiocesan donors.
  • Support CPO with implementing Planned Giving strategies, including direct mail campaigns, digital and online communications, special events, and The Catholic Foundation’s annual Create Your Catholic Legacy Month awareness campaign.
  • Lead special community engagement initiatives, such as the development of a Catholic Young Professional Network, with a focus on growing The Catholic Foundation’s network of supporters.
  • Establish benchmarks and regular reporting processes under the direction of the CPO to measure results of all activities.
  • Work with CPO to achieve established revenue goals for each fiscal year.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records in donor database, and tracks progress toward fundraising goals.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Development Consulting staff in the creation of project timelines and producing related content for Advancement projects. Ensure timeliness, accuracy and consistency in messaging.
  • Attend community events and speaking engagements on behalf of The Catholic Foundation.
