A set of employees at the two organizations, including the person filling this position, shares their time between the two organizations. This has no effect on salary or benefits

DEPARTMENT SYNOPSIS:

CASA’s Development Department raises funds from foundations, government agencies, individuals, corporations, congregations, unions, and partner organizations to ensure CASA's financial sustainability.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Senior Development Associate of Individual giving II (“Sr. IG Associate II”) is a key player in a high-energy development department who has responsibility for a diverse portfolio, primarily focusing on supporting the implementation of CASA’s Mid-level gifts program. The Sr. IG Associate II position is responsible for ensuring retention and growth in giving of existing mid-level donors through targeted communications and engagement including direct solicitation of gifts as well as stewarding CASA supporters. The Sr. Development Associate – Individual Giving II is also responsible for the coordination of CASA’s Ally Network donor organizing program, assisting CASA’s Major Gift Officer with the execution of CASA’s major gifts program; serving as a liaison with CASA’s finance team to ensure continuity of financial information, ensuring retention of all supporters and allies through engagement and volunteerism and the CASA Ally Network, working with Sr. Manager of individual giving to plan and coordinate CASA fundraising events; and representing CASA at events for donors and prospective donors.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties may include, but are not limited to, some of the following which are discussed and prioritized by the employee and supervisor, and reflected in individual and program annual workplans:

Donors and Donor Retention: Implement individual fundraising program focused on current donors and new donors for both CASA and CASA in Action (c3 and c4) to include:

  • Responsibilities in this area include but are not limited to:
  • Identify, qualify, and steward a portfolio of potential and existing mid-level donors for both CASA and CASA in Action (c3 and c4) through moves management action plans designed by the Sr. IG Associate II.
  • Continuously engage with donors in the portfolio with the goal of improving year-on-year-giving totals, and setting donation, retention, and stewardship goals for individuals in the portfolio.
  • Be able to meet benchmark goals established by leadership, as well as self-made benchmarks.
  • Analyze donor-giving data to assess patterns, match communications to donor interests/locations, and develop effective strategies for increasing donations.
  • Develop and implement a schedule for regular communication with and solicitation of donors in the portfolio.
  • Develop and implement targeted communications and outreach to all mid-level donors.
  • Responsible for coordinating with the Communications Department on outreach to Friends of CASA list that includes all donors to ensure appropriate messaging and coordinate timing of communications.
  • With guidance from Sr. Manager of individual giving, regularly perform one-on-one solicitations with existing individual donors in the portfolio through personal outreach.
  • Design and lead targeted short-term fundraising campaigns aimed at retaining and increasing donations from existing small-dollar and mid-level donors.
  • Ensure prompt and accurate donor acknowledgments are sent to all donors.
  • Direct donor outreach and mass donor outreach via in-person, targeted mail, email, or other digital messaging.
  • Management of individual giving donor data in our Salesforce and Every action CRM database, assisting Sr. Manager of Individual giving with maintaining the database through regular audits and quality checks; as well as tweaking design elements as needed.
  • Developing and maintaining a strong general knowledge of CASA’s programs and campaigns to better interact with supporters.
  • Work with the development team and consultants on strategies for retaining donors over time and increasing donations from current donors, including short-term campaigns and other fundraising initiatives.

CASA Ally Network

  • Responsible for coordinating the CASA Ally Network donor organizing program, including:
    • Attending Ally Network meetings (usually in the evenings).
    • Planning, scheduling, and coordinating Ally network meetings and events.
    • Designing and deploying the Ally Network chapter newsletters on a monthly basis.

Events

  • Will assist with the planning and coordination of all CASA fundraising events.
  • Set a timeline for event planning and ensure that all deadlines are met.
  • Coordinate with Executive Director, Development and other CASA staff, Board members, and external partners to ensure that all necessary arrangements are made, and in a timely manner.
  • Monitor progress towards income goals and develop alternate plans if income is not meeting projections.
  • Drafting sponsorship materials and prospectus; Working with designers and printers to produce; responsible for overseeing and managing the entire sponsorship solicitation process and supporting the full team of development staff, Executive Director, Board, and CASA staff in obtaining sponsors.
  • Organize, implement, and attend fundraising events with individuals such as house parties.

Donor and Volunteer Engagement

  • Inform donors about volunteer and other opportunities to engage donors and potential donors. Work with corporate donors to find placements, as appropriate for volunteers.
  • Execute workplace giving campaigns including filing proposals, tracking donations, issuing acknowledgments, etc.
  • Work with other CASA staff to create volunteer opportunities.
  • Responsible for tracking donor participation in volunteer opportunities.

Administrative and Financial Functions

  • Ensure timely and accurate deposits of contribution checks and EFTs as per department financial management procedures (with the assistance of other development associates), and clear communication with CASA finance department about all relevant information concerning contributions to CASA, as per dept. financial management procedures.
  • Ensure timely and accurate record keeping of individual giving donations in CASA’s databases to ensure effective acknowledgment of donor gifts.
  • Other Duties as Assigned.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:

  • Bachelor’s degree required or comparable experience, advanced degree a plus.
  • Valid US Driver’s License and a reliable vehicle.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Three (3) years of prior experience in development required, including experience in institutional and individual fundraising and knowledge of fundraising databases. Four (4) years preferred.
  • Strong project management skills: ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently and meet internal deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Highly organized and efficient, high-energy “can-do” attitude, flexibility, teamwork, and attention to detail; high degree of initiative.
  • Effective communication skills. Strong “people skills” – able to communicate professionally and congenially with donors. Able to write clear, effective proposals, letters, and other documents. Comfortable asking for and securing gifts.
  • Experience working with nonprofit agencies and/or nonprofit-run businesses a plus
  • Supportive of CASA’s mission and able to communicate the value of the mission to donors.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish or English/French (written and spoken) preferred.
