Position Summary:

The Purchasing Specialist, II is responsible for all aspects of Indirect Purchasing which is obtaining or acquiring goods and services used to meet the operational needs of Airbus U.S. This position requires a self-starting and proactive individual able to pursue courses of action when opportunities present themselves without prompting from others.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Review agreements and ensure that deliverables are in line with contractual terms.
  • Primary POC for new vendor creation
  • Maintain complete and accurate purchasing files
  • Lead and track progress on purchasing initiatives.
  • Update change order revisions and purchase order pricing as required
  • Assist with new policies, procedures and training to ensure optimal order processing.
  • Prepare and issue purchase requisitions or orders, driving compliance to Airbus purchasing policies and procedures and legal requirements.
  • Close out POs, as required.
  • Ensure continuous supply of required goods and materials through order follow up and supply chain benchmarking activities

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Provide purchasing training to other employees
  • Attend and support internal meetings.
  • Coordinate shipping with vendors and customers.
  • Support logistics (warehouse, customs regulation) as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned/required.

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:


Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Experience:

Minimum 4 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, logistics, or a similar field. Experience in Aerospace is a plus, but not required.


Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

  • Must be a team player, but also be comfortable working independently; to ensure projects are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Must have a high degree of integrity, team spirit, customer service, and high ethical standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, time management, and computer skills.
  • Ability to perform under pressure.
  • Excellent organizational skills and keen eye for detail required.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. export regulations (ITAR/EAR) and ability to read and understand Customs and ITAR regulations is a plus.
  • Knowledge of standard shipping and receiving practices.
  • Knowledge of online shipment tracking.
  • Experience with reading engineering drawing.
  • Basic negotiation skills.
  • Basic knowledge about procurement contracts.
  • Basic financial skills.
  • Proven success as a participant in an effective team.
  • Customer focused and analytical.
  • Demonstrated skill as a problem-solver.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.

Technical Systems Proficiency:

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite. (MSWord, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Costpoint and Salesforce experience a plus
  • Knowledge of computer search engines.

Decision Making, Complexity:

  • Must be able to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines, and be adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Comfortable working with all levels across the company and communicating with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Make recommendations regarding contract type, provisions, risks, mitigations and flow downs to the Contracts Team.

Nature of Contacts:

Involved communication on a daily basis with internal and external parties
