About the role

At Wonder, we prioritize food safety and quality to ensure the well-being of our customers and staff. We are looking for a passionate and experienced FSQA (Food Safety and Quality Assurance) Associate Director to join our team and help us maintain and enhance our food safety standards.

As our Associate Director of FSQA, you will implement and enforce compliance with regulatory requirements, as well as Wonder's Food Safety at all of our Wonder locations.   You will be responsible for building and maintaining scalable systems to manage restaurant-level inspections for food safety, managing food complaints and recalls, and overseeing a third-party inspection firm.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities for this role include:

Scalable Systems Development:

  • Oversee Wonder's FSQA systems, programs, processes, and procedures across all Wonder locations in NYC and NJ and other states as we grow. This encompasses establishing food safety programs, HACCP and GMP policies for all Wonder locations. 
  • Support all FSQA initiatives to ensure that Wonder's standards of food quality and safety, NYC Health code, as well as NJ Heath code requirements are adhered to at all Wonder locations.  

Trend Analyses:

  • Conduct regular trend analyses to identify potential food safety and quality issues.
  • Use data-driven insights to recommend and implement preventive measures.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with local health inspectors and ensure that all Wonder locations comply with local, state, and federal food safety regulations
  • Monitor and conduct Food safety audits of our Wonder locations at an established frequency to ensure compliance to Wonder's food safety programs and standards 
  • Manage third party food safety audit process

Supplier Monitoring:

  • Support the supplier monitoring program to ensure all suppliers meet Wonder's food safety and quality standards and address any non-compliance issues.
  • Participate in product recalls. Maintain procedures and documentation for product recalls and tracking. 
  • Assist with the development of the Business Continuity Plan to minimize disruption to our operations during unplanned events

Partnership With Our Operations Team

  • Build a system that guarantees the oversight of daily checks of various control points within the food flow at the restaurant and ensure that monitoring equipment is calibrated to ensure functionality. i.e., probe thermometers, pH meters etc., 
  • Implement and enforce the Receiving Program. Monitor the food delivery process to ensure meal kits received at our Wonder locations are delivered in good condition and at appropriate temperatures.  
  • Partner with the restaurant GM to investigate food safety issues and customer complaints reported to our Wonder locations and offer corrective actions as required. This includes reporting and assisting with correcting unsanitary conditions in food preparation and storage areas and employee work areas. 

The experience you have

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in food safety and quality assurance, preferably within the restaurant or food service industry.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to conduct trend analyses.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with health inspectors and other stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Certification in HACCP, ServSafe, or equivalent is preferred.
  • Comfort with implementing SOPs and collaborating with others to ensure accountability through strong leadership and communication, both written and verbal 

Location: This role will be expected to travel between NYC and NJ locations and will be primarily located at the company's corporate office at 4 World Trade Center  .

Base Salary Range: $183,750
