Responsibilities:

  • Oversee food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance for production lines, ensuring adherence to policies, regulations, customer, and supplier standards.
  • Act as the main contact for FDA and other regulatory inspections.
  • Maintain the SQF management system, including regulatory compliance, customer specifications, HACCP, preventive controls, microbiological testing, and laboratory oversight.
  • Manage the Customer Complaint Management program, including root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Review and maintain preventive actions, including investigations related to product complaints and discrepancies in production, and propose corrective/preventive actions.
  • Assist in the development, training, and retention of Quality Assurance staff.
  • Review product labels and packaging for technical accuracy and FDA compliance.
  • Manage the QC Hold Program, including protocols for holds, rework, and non-conforming ingredients, packaging, and products.
  • Maintain traceability programs and conduct crisis management and mock recall exercises.
  • Conduct research and development of new products and modifications to existing products.
  • Oversee the customer sampling program.
  • Provide leadership in improving, maintaining, and validating sanitation practices and procedures.
  • Monitor pest control inspections, audits, and follow-up on corrective actions.
  • Conduct regular inspections and sanitation, directing pest control programs.
  • Oversee cleaning and sanitation procedures, evaluate SSOPs, approved cleaning chemicals, training, and verification processes.
  • Monitor hygienic standards of premises, equipment, and grounds.
  • Maintain and write detailed SSOPs for all equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or related food science fields.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in product testing and QA/QC activities in food, pharmaceutical, or related manufacturing fields.
  • In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations and standards, including FDA FSMA and SQF.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with experience in training and developing staff.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and experience with root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Proficiency in maintaining traceability programs and conducting crisis management exercises.
  • Experience with product label and packaging compliance for FDA standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple programs and ensure adherence to food safety and quality protocols.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in food science or related field.
  • Certification in HACCP, SQF, or other relevant food safety management systems.
  • Experience with regulatory inspections and third-party audits.
  • Familiarity with pest control and sanitation practices in food manufacturing.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
